Vic-20 Question

Please understand that I am new to this Commodore system, but after

hooking-up my Vic-20, and getting the boot-up screen, as follows:

**** CBM BASIC V2 ****

3583 Bytes Free

Ready.

-(blinking cursor)

I cannot enter anything. There always seems to be a dash before the cursor,

which does not appear in any of the manuals--I'm not sure if that is

important.

So I seem to boot-up fine, but cannot advance the cursor or input anything.

Also, when I hit INST/DEL instead of the preceding dash deleting one

advances. Hitting RUN/STOP and RESTORE seems to get rid of the dash, but

still no input.

Can anyone help?

I hope this is an appropriate forum for this question.

Thank-you

Sounds like it could be a problem with the keyboard, possibly a stuck key or something like that which is keeping you from doing anything else.

The dash before the cursor is not normal, so I would start in the area of that key and check for anything abnormal.
