bdog_147
I bought a PSP off a guy from work. 100 bucks with 4 games and some protective case thing. World Series Of Poker SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 2 Mind Quiz King Kong I already have King Kong on Xbox so I don't think I'll bother playing it. No memory stick. Either he forgot to put it in the box or he decided to keep it. I forgot to ask about memory stick. It's okay I was going to buy maybe a 1 gig stick to put mp3s on it. The screen is all scratched up but it is okay. Overall I think I got a good deal on this. Thoughts?
shadow460
I think you got a great deal. The screen can be replaced or even buffed out. RadioCrap has a CD buffing kit that may work for $10. You won't even have to pull the PSP apart to buff the screen, but you will have to open it to replace the outer screen. What'd you get for batteries? Most used PSPs come with the typcial 1800 mAh battery, and I assume the Slim&Lite comes with the 900 mAh battery. Speaking of, did you get a fat or a slim? I'd stay away from the 1 gig stick--it is too small. I have three 2 gig sticks, a 1 gig that I'm thinking seriously about trading off, and a 256 meg that my wife uses for game saves. A standalone charger is about $20 used around here, and it charges much faster than the power adapter does. Replacement batteries are pricey at $38, but that'll get you a brand shiny new Stamina Pack, and leave your old battery available for reflashing if you like (one of mine has been reflashed into a service battery of some kind). You can flash the old battery to the service mode like I did, or flash it to JigKick mode. Oh, hack the firmware right away. You'll be glad you did--trust me. Prices around The Blue Zone: New: Fat-$170, Slim-$170. Used: Fat-$130, Slim-$140. All those are for the core system which comes with a standard battery, the power brick, a short AC cord, and the PSP. Used ones generally don't come with a box or instructions (but who needs instructions anyway?). The Daxter Pack comes with a couple of UMDs and a 1 gig memory stick. IMO, you can get a better deal buying used. None of the packs come with any kind of cables other than the power plug. RCA, USB, and composite cables must be purchased separately. bdog_147
Speaking of, did you get a fat or a slim? I got the fat one. The battery I assume is the standard one that comes with it. I never looked at it. I'll consider getting a larger memory stick. As for hacking the firmware I am thinking about that. I think the current firmware is 2.71. Not sure if that means anything. The guy was willing to go as low as $50 and I could have taken that but I didn't want to rip the guy off. We agreed that 100 was a fair/good deal. He mentioned that he has a charger but can't seem to find it. If he finds it he says he'll give it to me. RickHarrisMaine
I traded a virtual boy and a few games for mine. I spent a total of $40 on the VB and games, so that was a good deal. You do want to get the firmware hacked. I plan on having some fun with mine eventually, but I need to finish law school first
jetset
You got a great deal. I've been watching the corporate bulletin board at my work for months now, most people selling PSP's want $120 just for the unit! My daughter wants a PSP and I've been on the lookout. Someone had one for $300 bucks, unit, 9 games, 4 movies, membery stick, all the plugs and a carrying case. Super deal but she's limited to $150 (Xmas b-day money) So ya definetly $100 is a steal imo. Jess Ragan
Sounds fair to me! Keep in mind that I paid $250 for my first PSP. That was without any games at all!
shadow460
I really wouldn't go out of my way to get a power plug of any kind for the PSP. An extra battery and that wall charger (PSP-191) are all you need. My car charger broke down, and I rarely ever use the power plug at home anymore. dalton4life
Put a screen protector and that'll make most if not all the scratches disappear. I think the Hori one is best you can get for under $10, but they don't sell those in stores anymore. If not buying online I suggest the Psyclone screen protector sold at Target. They are pretty good and you get 2 for $10.
