Well, it's March. The big shopping season for the industry is still several months off (and lots of us consumers are still recovering from the last one ;) ) but looking forward, what do you think will be Sony's next move to get more PS3s into the hands of consumers? Love them or hate them, they've certainly been busy in spite of criticisms. So what will they do? Design a new SKU, introducing an even cheaper low-end model or a souped-up high-end model? Create a new bundle with a game or controller or something? Or just do another price drop on the existing hardware?

Gradual price drops (especially in Europe) and a few high profile game releases. The PS3 seems to be doing well now. I know the 360 reigns supreme in US, but Sony are definitely catching up in Europe.

I voted for a new model. I thought I read somewhere where they created a way for them to make it cost less to make; therefore a new model and a cheaper unit.

Can anyone that has the 80 gb tell me how well PS2 games work on this unit? At Christmas I went to six stores looking for the 60gb until I found one. I was hoping for better compatibility with PS2 games.

I'm an asst. mgr. at my local f.y.e and it's my understanding that on or about June 12 (don't remember the exact date, sorry) that Sony is re-releasing the 80g with a Metal Gear Solid 4:Guns of the Patriots and a new DualShock 3 controller (yes, with rumble) bundled in. Supposedly, this bundle is going to be about $499. Also, around the same timeframe, Sony's also releasing a new PSP entertainment pack in Red with the new God of War:Chain of Olympus game, "Suberbad" movie on UMD, and a voucher for a Playstation Network game download, for about $199. It will also have the God of War himself silkscreened on the back, much like they did with Darth Vader. Sorry about covering 2 systems, but just figure I throw it out there incase anybody was interested.

VERY NICE

I have been playing the wait it out game as far as next gen systems go, I was going to wait till Sep. when my gf and I get our place together, and have been heavy leaning towards a PS3, if this is true and Sony sticks with this plan and does in fact release MGS4 with a new DShock 3 Controller I would be happy buy one of those, although still might wait till Sept, anyway just in case of price drops etc.

I've been considering upgrading my current PSP to one of the new slim ones. One thing I've can't figure out about the two PSP Bundles: they are both the same price, yet the Daxter bundle comes with a game, a movie, and 1gb memory stick while the Star Wars bundle comes with just a game.

Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture here.... but for myself, when the price is equal, I'd rather have a movie and a memory stick than Darth Vaden emblazened on the back of the unit.

I'm waiting to see if the GoW version will have a memory stick - movie packed in or not before I make a purchase. I do like that red PSP!

You'll still need the phat for 1.50 homebrew. Slim's extra memory does help speed things up, but not quite as much as loading from a fast MS or "overclocking". The USB charge feature is a joke.

I planned on using my phat PSP for most of my needs, but I got sick right after Slim came along, so I let my wife stick to one PSP while I used the other to avoid spreading germs of all things. Now I use Slim a lot, and she uses phat for games and for web surfing.
