Don't you play a whiny chubby nerd in this game? I'd rather play a 'gangsta' thug than a little nerd with an irritating voice. I hope this game is packed with all kind of cool stuff, because it's going to be hard to get used to that little nerd.

Are you thinking of "Bully"? I don't believe the main character in this game is a whiny chubby nerd. You are getting Jack Thompson's pet peeves mixed up.

Wrong game! The main character is a Russian bad ass with a thick accent. I went to the midnight release at my local Wal-Mart and purchased a copy for Xbox 360. This game has evolved in the right direction if you ask me. Rockstar revamped the controls and they feel much tighter than they did in San Andreas. The physics are more realistic; people no longer look like rag dolls when they get hit by a speeding car (wink) and the missions alone give over 30 hours of game play. According to a review I read, the game will last longer than 30hrs if you do all the special missions.

The game is more cinematic, character development far exceeds previous versions, and the voice acting is top-notch. Nothing beats taking a woman on a date, hitting a pole, and ejecting her through a windshield. ;)

Edit: I’m only a few hours into the game so I can’t comment any further, but I strongly suggest giving it a chance before passing judgment.

That's good to know. I thought you had to be this guy:

I guess Jeremy St. Ives is just a character from the game. I'll be shooting him in the head as soon as possible so I don't have to listen to him talk.

why? He seems so much more useful than the main character...

Can I play as him? It sounds like he's on vacation. Though if I were on vacation I'd rather go to a place where everything short of ultraviolence wasn't horribly underdeveloped.

Well, I just bought the PS3 version, and now I hear the game has problems on the 60GB model... which is what I have. :x :x

Rockstar really needs to fix their QA process.

What are the problems? I was actually leaning more towards the PS3 version to play with my friend online and because I have no PS3 games.

Special Edition goodness is now in da house! :D

Just booted it up, I like the way they did the credits - neat!

Holy crap - I just checked the reviews on the game and it's received perfect scores. That's a lot to live up to, guess I'll find out.

Some people say it locks up at the first cut-scene and you can never get past it. However, some say it affects the 360 version too. Problem is there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the problem on the 360, whereas on the PS3 it's definitely narrowed down to certain 60GB units.

Mine plays fine, though, at least so far... but my understanding is if you can get past the first cut-scene and maybe the first few minutes of gameplay, you're fine. Still, it does seem like it's a legit problem - check it out: http://kotaku.com/385183/rockstar-support-...ze-fix-in-sight

So I would say if you have an 80GB or 40GB PS3, that's the version you definitely want (over the 360 version). If you've got a 60GB, then it's more up in the air.

Just charged my credit card for a 360 pro system, 2 5 dollar Xbox games & GTA 4. I actually did bother with the protection plan.

Of course, I watch the introductory video, and the console locks up. WTF? I reboot, and I'm fine.

GTA 4 is nice so far. Just wish I could find the side missions. Accidentally tripped a cop, and that was a 2-star wanted level chase. Jeesh!

I've done a couple missions with Roman. I accidentally blew him off for a date and he got beat up.

I've been too busy watching TV (awesome!) and bowling and soaking in the details. Even just the little things like Nico walking away and eating the hot dog visible in his hand after buying one from a street vendor, instead of a generic buy food/get health thing. Got to find a bar for darts and pool. And I really need to make some money, got like $65 bucks. :D

Which version will I buy? Probably the Greatest Hits version from the "used" shelf. :D

(I don't have anything against game, I just don't mind waiting for it to be available cheaper.)

I don't actually have either system yet, but I will eventually when Aliens: Colonial Marines and To End All Wars come out. I suppose GTAIV would be worth checking out, too. :)

I got it for PS3, it's awesome and the graphics are better on PS3 as well.

The video comparison makes it pretty clear.

There is no graphical difference. It is all in your head.

Graphics

The two versions are so close to identical, visually, that putting together a comparison was a challenge. Initially, it appeared that the PS3 suffered from more noticeable aliasing than its 360 counterpart, but after eyeballing the final retail copy, they appear to be on par. I noticed that the paint filter applied to cover some of the game's imperfections appeared a tiny bit muddier on the PS3 version, with night time scenes seeing more streakiness. Some of these minor complaints may be the result of our particular television settings and require the finest of fine tooth combs to assess.

I just read that the Xbox version of GTA4 is outselling the PS3:

G4 - The Feed

I don't know why anyone would be surprised , there are a lot more 360's in consumers living rooms than there are PS3s, and unlike some other console owners, 360 owners will buy a video game. ;)

I ordered my copy of GTA4 today...360 version.
