+Charlie Cat
Hi Guys: I'm getting it for the 360. The Playstation 3 version is very well developed. However, all of my pals have/are going to get it for the 360 & the Xbox Live features are its main reason I would like to purchase the game on that particular platform. Anthony... EricDeLee
Love it so far. I only played about 2 hours last night... found myself just having fun and driving around. Very nice game. I got it for the PS3 of course.
Red 5
I think it is much more 'on rails' so far than the previous games. I am assuming this is because I am still in a sort of tutorial mode. It seems that if I don't jump at my cousins every phone call (and there are a lot) I will miss something important. I know I can turn off my cell phone and explore but for the first three hours, I was just helping my cousin and bowling with my date. It is a great story so far though, and it has completely sucked me in. I am incredibly impressed with the AI of 'the city' in general and the game looks stunning. The details are just unbelievable. I also got caught up watching the comedy channel in my apartment on TV for like 10 minutes. I was mesmerized by the stand up comedian and his mannerisms. A lot of jokes were done with visual aids which meant they must have done some kind of motion capture on the comedian, which is very impressive. The radio stations are so numerous that I don't think I will ever hear a song twice. Although I would like a quick music volume button for when phone calls come in. It's annoying to listen over the music. I can't wait to go home and play more tonight. I hope I get some 'sand box' time soon though. Noelio
I picked it up for PS3. The visuals are absolutely amazing. The city is insanely detailed!!! Nice selection of vehicles etc too. I want to get right to the cheats and play in the sandbox / destroy everything cause that's what I like hehehe. Yup I agree on the on rails comment. I've only had an hour or so but, I too, spent time just watching the tv. LOTS of xm 202 radio personalities in there too. Ron from ron and fez is the fire chief, Opie and Anthony from the opie and anthony show are a Irish Mobster, News reporter respectively. Anthony also does the beer commercial jingle / voice over on TV. Jimmy Norton is the porn shop guy - no coincidence there. VERY COOL! Red 5
I have the 360 version but this seems like the only 'GTA 4' thread that will actually be about the game itself, so don't kill my MicroSoft ass for hangin' with you PS3 folk.
EricDeLee
Anyone that likes the old Dark Tower board game is a friend in my books. Even if you like the 360 version. I can ignore some things. LOL I do like that avatar man... I still need to figure out how to program for the lynx and make the Dark Tower for it. That would be really nice
Seob
My copy of gta iv will come next friday. I've ordered it one day before release, and since it will be 20 euro cheaper then buying it right out of the shop i don't mind. I'm currently playing uncharted and have a great time playing it. So i would only be distracted playing gta iv.

spacecadet
There's a lot of detail, but do you guys really think it looks *good*? I know the resolution is only like 1162x630 or some such, and it really shows on my TV. I have tons of jaggies and lots of texture pop-in and "shimmer" (especially on the highway signs as they get closer) and everything is really blurry compared to my other PS3 games... most of which probably run at at least 1280x720 (and at least a couple run at a full 1920x1080). I also get a lot of frame rate drops during heavy action... and it seems to hover around 20-30fps the rest of the time. I think it's actually a pretty ugly game. I do totally appreciate the amount of detail and just all the *stuff* they put in, but I probably could have done without some of the lighting effects (which are overdone) and the blur effects if it would have meant a bump in resolution. I can't stand jaggies, I can't stand blurriness, and the overdone lighting gives me a headache anyway. I've seen the TV ads that apparently show the Xbox 360 version, and I think I actually like that a little bit better. +Atari_Warlord
The radio stations are so numerous that I don't think I will ever hear a song twice.Although I would like a quick music volume button for when phone calls come in. It's annoying to listen over the music. There is an option to have the music fade during conversations or phone calls that helps quite a bit. I'm loving the city and game so far at about 10% in. I'm glad they took out some of the tedious tasks but I really wish the music had been better. My favorite has been Vice City which I'm sure has to do with my age. bdog_147
Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but it appears people are having problems with the PS3 version of the game (game frezzes up, won't load, etc). http://www.gta4.net/news/index.php I haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood) and I hope I don't. The freezing is due to the game trying to access the Rockstar Social Club. Just sign out of the network (or don't enable auto sign-in) before you launch the game and all should be fine. That worked for me. Really stupid that Rockstar didn't catch this in QA.
Seob
Got GTA IV today, and played 1 hour, no freezes yet. I've got a late 60Gb European version, with software ps2 support. I haven't hooked up the console to the internet all the time so i don't know if it will lock when it's hooked up. I've got the latest bios version, and the console isn't hacked.
