I had been seriously considering adding a 2nd PS3 to the household and placing it in my gaming room because my current PS3 resides in the living room and the wife unit has taken possession of it with games (PJ Monsters, Super Rub-a-dub, Lemmings, and Ratchet) and movies. She was even telling one of her friends the other day "I was playing Lemmings on my PS3....." HER PS3?????????? Anyway, when Konami announced that they would release a Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid bundle with the "gun steel" colored console and controller, I made up my mind to buy one as I love that gun steel color. Today, I went to the Konami website to find out the pre-order date for the bundle and found out the specific's of what they are selling: a 40gb Gun Steel colored console with matching Dual Shock and the Collectors Edition of the MGS4 game for $600!!!! Very few people are going to want to pay $600 for a console that's just a different color. It'll drop pretty sharply as the stock languishes on the shelf. From what I read, the Konami website was so inundated with pre-order requests that the servers malfunctioned and shut down. Then after getting the servers back online, customers found that not only was the bundle costing them $600 but Konami added a mandatory $500 insurance fee to each order (refundable after you received the system) to make the MGS4 bundle cost over $1,100 to pre-order!! Supposedly after many complaints, Konami dropped the insurance fee and got their server problems worked out. The bundles are now totally sold out. Look for them on eBay very soon. The Limited Edition isn't sold in stores at all but only through the Konami website. It was produced in very limited numbers and I'm sure will be fetching high dollars in the near future. But in the long run, I doubt the system will be worth that much. Heck, I have boxed, complete, and unused: a Donkey Kong Country Green N64, a Halo Green Xbox, a Pokemon Yellow Gameboy, and a Pokemon N64 and none of them are worth much at all. It seems there's going to be a standard "Limited" 80GB MGS4 bundle much liked the former Limited edition Motorstom bundled 80GB PS3 for $499.99. There will also be a Gun Metal Grey 40GB PS3 bundle that's going be be extremely limited and only available online for $599.99. XT Posted July 19, 2008 Share Posted July 19, 2008 I got 2 of the 40 gig PS3's when walmart had them with a 100 dollar gift card offer. One for my wife, and one for the kid to share. Each of them already has a PS2, as do my wife and I. That and all the other poor forgotten systems we have As for myself, I went out and got the MGS Bundle for 499. I haven't looked back since.
