Chainclaw
Is there an IRC channel you guys all hang out in? A lot of homebrew communities seem to have a dedicated IRC channel for users to get quick answers to quick questions, or just discuss development in general. Also, is there a good template file for development? Reading through a lot of stuff in the programming for newbies forums taught me a lot, but the couple sandbox programs I have so far are not well setup for writing an entire game. I'm not looking for something super complicated, with bank switching and what not, just something that covers the basics (playfield and sprite drawing), especially what was covered in the Atari Programming Workshop in the newbie forum. I'm posting this here instead of the new user forum, because it looks like that forum is dead, it seems like it maybe gets one new post a week. Check out Kirk Israel's tutorial, he supplies a bunch of different template programs that draw sprites and playfield. Chainclaw
That was one that I was looking at, but it was missing a few things (such as a more direct horizontal positioning). I was also looking at the various sessions, and the source in this post : http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...mp;#entry506643 Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have a source file that mixes what you posted and that one. A sprite that can be directly positioned at any X / Y coordinate. I don't have a lot of free time for this, which is why it's taking me so long. I just didn't want to spent the little free time I have rewriting something that might be easily available. Obviously a template source file won't work in the end for a lot of game ideas, but it will probably be a great place to start for almost anything. Is there a 2600 developers IRC channel or anything, though? Somewhere I could pop in for the half hour or so I can scrounge together a day to work on this stuff, to talk to other devs while I'm working? No IRC, at least not specifically for 2600 dev.
