The first level has you behind a defensive shield, defending against an alien attack. The level is a top-down view, with your ship & shield on one side and the aliens on the other side. This is the Space Invader style gameplay, as the alien vessels approach closer and closer in their threatening row formation. The second level is similar to the first, only your defensive shield is gone, and the enemies tend to swoop down over the level as opposed similar to Galaxian. The third level is a change, and has you entering hyperspace. Your only goal is to survive to the end of your journey. The viewpoint switches from a top-down view to a behind-the-ship view and in effect you are heading "towards" your destination. Alien vessels flying in circular formation try to stop you. The fourth and final level is similar to the first again, with some key differences... You fight not a wave of enemies, but a single one. A mothership with a glowing weak spot. Hitting the weak spot will instantly destroy it. The mothership also has that same shield that was yours in the first level. -This game was suggested by: theking21083 -Skill level: 1 HSC Info -Post your scores in this thread and every couple of days I will update the leaderboard. -The cutoff for posting scores will be the second Wednesday after the competition begins, at 1:00 A.M. Does this game make sense? Does this game make sense? The two gorfians that accompany the flagship are never replenished after they are destroyed until the next flagship board. Granted you could fire at the ship for 10 points per plink or the incoming shots but what fun would that be? I'll second the vote for the Space Avenger bonus though. Upon completion of mission 20 you are awarded the illustrious title of Space Avenger. I just missed it by two boards on my last submission. I'll get there though. Ikrananka Posted June 4, 2008 Share Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) I seem to either be in a minority or a one off - I hate this game on the CV. Just seems poorly balanced with the invaders screen being manically fast and the the laser attack screen ridiculously slow. The collision detection on the laser attack stage also seems to be way off. Anyway, I'll persevere - maybe it'll grow on me if I get better. So far a lowly score of 12,460. darthkur Posted June 4, 2008 Share Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) 31,000 Mission 23 Not as great as I was hoping for but at least I did obtain the bonus point by surviving until the point of being awarded Space Avenger status. Since these multi-board games are such fun might I suggest either James Bond 007 or Looping for the next game? If not the next round perhaps sometime in the near future.
