Dan Iacovelli Posted November 20, 2002 Share Posted November 20, 2002 A quick update on the IL event (Aka Video Game Summit(VGS) ) : 1st, the event is now being set for either at the countryside,IL or Hillside,IL Holiday inn. Also as of now we looking at one of two dates to have the VGS: March 15th,2003 or July 12th,2003(if the march date isnot available). I'll need to start begging NOW if that's the final date! snider-man: I asked the question on the yahoo group about the dates because I needed to know what dates would be good since nobody said anything different I figured it would be good for those two dates. reason why the march date because it's before Phillyclassic and the rest of the convention season. while it's true that I tried for a feb date but I figured I could use march to get more time. chances are that July date will be available since March will prob be booked up since it's early. Most liley it will be on the july date(I will be surprised if I get the march date though since it so close) 2. Countryside lagrange holliday inn is Out (they turned it down on first shot) 3. Hillside Holiday inn (also known as the Chiago expo and confence center) is the most likely place it will be held. (I am right now under negoations with the person in charge of the meeting planning at the hotel). watch more deatils soon as the talks continue. Ok, I have some bad news to report for this: they have us inked for a march date.(which surprised me been so close) now for the major bad news: they want 2000 dollars for room rental. thats way out of my league. (countryside only wanted 200-300 for room rental) so it will comedown to this: either we go looking for another location (I am willing to call the comunity center by my house if any opening for july (I will also try to contact another hotel ) Or I will just decide to cancel the event and wait until 2004. As I said before I will either call other hotels (comfort inn in oakbrook terrance (yes it is the one by castle of toys were it's now the durry lane place) or the hampton inn by me (or even try conatcting the recreation center I mentioned before (at least I know I can get it for 200 for 8 hours(25 per hr) or I can either just cancel it for 2003 and plan it for 2004. (if anybody else who is on VGS list want to give it try and find a good place for it let me know) Dan (Ps.I would like to contact the odeum in villa park and ask about their meeting rooms(I don't think we would need the main exhibit space) this is just a thought so I might not do it) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dan Iacovelli Posted January 4, 2003 Share Posted January 4, 2003 Just want to clearfly inkys update(btw thanks for doing that): We are currently looking a few other locations too besides harrahs joliet: joliet junior college and maybe a few other hotels as well. Also I am going to try(I say try because my hours at work have been nutty, and I don't get off like until 6pm on most most of them with exception of weds when I do get off at 2:30) a hotel in oakbrook terrace and I am going to try a local community center by me. To clear one more thing up: We are going to try hard to get the July 12th date (if not we will try for an octorber date TBA). keep watching this subject and be sure to check out AVC online for more details when everything is set.
