PacManPlus Posted August 14, 2008 Author Share Posted August 14, 2008 BTW, batari's suggestion really helped out - I did 40 of those boards in a few hours, whereas it would have taken me *much* longer with a hand desolderer. Thank you VERY much for that suggestion! I had to get a small piece of sheet metal (like I mentioned earlier) and placed it on top of the 'grill'. I then put the board (chip side down) and watched until the solder points started to bubble. I then picked the board up with a pair of needle-nose pliers, and banged it against the workbench. The ROM usually fell right out, although the solder did have to be scraped off the board (easy). The only 2 cons, are 1) sometimes the capacitor came out as well and that had to be soldered back in (2 points, easy) and 2) the boards take quite a while to cool off after that.
