briskbc
This guy is trying to back out of this auction that ended on Aug 21, 02. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1374259361 This was the email he sent me. "i accidently bidded on the wrong item. i was trying to bid on shadow of darkness. if possible could u sell to the 2nd highest bidder. i apologize for any compliations" It appears as though he sent this email on the 21st but it did not arrive in my hotmail inbox until the 25th. Anyway I'm just curious as to what you guys would do in a case like this. I have contacted the second buyer and I am waiting for an answer. I also contacted this guy let him know what sort of response I get and how this will impact his feedback. So far the best he can hope for is a neutral comment. ADDITIONAL. I was just contacted by a buyer of a different auction stating he didn't know I live in Canada and that he can't send payment there. There should be an IQ test that goes along with the ebay registration. ADITIONAL ADDITIONAL. Another buyer of a different auction under a different username has just informed me that he cannot pay me until next month. This auction ended 10 days ago. This is all happening today.. I need a more pissed off emoticon.
tiggerthehun
I'd ask "How do you 'accidently' bid on the wrong item 10 times!!!" Dunno - I've had it happen once or twice - I'd explain to him that you are still responsible for posting fees, and that, infact, he is costing YOU money, as ebay will still charge fees. If you don't get a satistfactory response, I'd give him negative feedback, just for being stupid! My guess is he got in a bidding war, and is now having buyers remorse. Contact ebay, explain he was a deadbeat bidder, and see if they'll refund your posting fees. Good luck!
MacGurl
Tigger's probably right. It looked like he was in a bidding war with another person and didn't want to lose, so he kept bidding higher. Now he doesn't want to pay that much for the item. I would not take his excuse of accidentally bidding on the item, as Tigger said, he did bid 10 times on this item. I would send him an email back stating payment is due within xx days and if not received, negative feedback will be left. It costs you money to post the item, as it will cost you more to post it again, I would definitely give him nothing but negative feedback. But then again, I'm kinda mean. Cap5750
Well, technically, he's bound by law to pay... On the other hand, it looks to me as if he only bid 4 times not 10...I'm presuming those times where his bids are right next to each other where proxy bids. My first reaction would be to see if the 2nd highest bidder wanted it for the selling price. If not, see if they want it for their max bid. Talk to e-bay about reducing, removing (or whatever they do) the fees associated with the first winning amt if the 2nd guy doesn't want it for that price. If they do not, I would ask the original buyer to pay the difference of the fees. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt. Especially when it comes to computers. Heck, someone got all excited and were getting something they thought they really wanted. Granted, it's a little hard to believe, but looking at his current feedback it's all positive. That deserves an "OOPS!" every now and then right? As for the guy who can't pay you until next month...well you can either wait on him or report him to e-bay. Again, I'd probably check out his feedback and if most of it is positive, I may give him a break. And for the guy who didn't realize you were in Canada? Well...again....the location of an item is not something I personally look at all the time (at least at first), so I wouldn't rule out something like that happening. Where is the guy from anyway? I know in the US, I can send/receive to/from Canada, it just takes a little longer. For example, I sent a money order just last Monday and the guy didn't get it until Friday. Of course, he was on vacation most of the week (and didn't tell me...grr) so no telling when he got it! Cap

Cap No, actually each one of those is the bidder putting in that amount and hitting the bid button. Proxy bidding doesn't work that way. It's a lame excuse, I've heard them all, but the end result is that you can't MAKE the person pay if they really decide they just don't want to. It's very annoying and frustrating as a seller to deal with immature idiots like this.
briskbc
Update. THe guy who claimed he bid on the wrong item is going to pay up. The guy who claims he didn't know I lived in Canada has been notified that I expect the transaction to be competed. If he doesn't reply he will get a second more strongly worded email threatening negative feedback. Tha guy who can't pay for a month has been told "that is unacceptable and to consider the transaction canceled. This will be reflected in your feedback." I'm through with pissing around with idiots. I am prompt with communication and shipping of items. I expect the same courtesy from my buyers. Naturally I allow for a little grace on certain situations but the above mentioned transactions exceed what most sellers would allow. Stella'sGhost
I have had one crappy Ebay transaction, but I can't believe the nerve of this idiot. I was selling one of my memory sound cards for music synthesizers on Ebay last year, this guy wins the bid, $110 bucks, its a pretty rare card that is 10 years old, and I've never seen it on Ebay. So several days later he replies that he can't afford to buy this card because he just bought a synth from another Ebay auction and it cost him $2000. What is this crap??? And he sends me the pic of the synth he won as an attachment..... as if I give a crap? I just explained to him that he outbid others and that ebay will charge me for this auction, he didnt really seem to care. So I just told him to never ever bid on anything of mine again and to kindly *$#*@.... though I used harsher language. I have all positive feedback so to protect it I just left no feedback on his name.... I figured he'd get one soon form someone else. I did relist the card and it sold, for about the same. Cap As a active eBayer located in Canada I can tell you with some certainty that it is very rare that a money order takes less than a full week to arrive from the USA. I received 2 yesterday that were mailed the week of 8/26.
Cap5750
It is very tough dealing with buyers sometimes, though I can't speak from personal experience as I've never sold anything on e-bay (only bought ). Of course, sometimes dealing with sellers is just as bad. When I first started with ebay, I always left feedback after receiving my item(s). And it wasn't just GREAT EBAYER ++++ or some junk like that. I actually took the time to use my 80 characters wisely and rate them on communication, shipping time and packaging. All too often however, I kept noticing that I was leaving feedback, but not getting any in return. Well now I leave no feedback for a seller unless he/she leaves feedback for me first. A good friend of mine (and fellow ebay-a-holic) had this to say: "If you buy something, you pay first...therefore, the seller should leave feedback first since he or she is receiving something from you. In other words, your part of the transaction it complete.". Made sense to me. But the one thing that irks me more then anything and I run into this about 75 - 80 percent of the time is the following: I win a bid and immediately send an e-mail telling the buyer how I'll be paying and when I'll be sending the payment. As soon as I've sent the payment I'll e-mail them again letting them know that it has been sent and (base on my judgement) when it should be there. So I'll sit for days and days (and no...most of these are not personal checks, but rather money orders) waiting and wondering if the person received my payment and if they did, if they sent my item. Why is it so hard to send an e-mail? Okay, I know there are sellers out there selling lots of things, but it's not that difficult to even send a quick one-liner just letting me know that you received the payment and that my item is being shipped ASAP. I really don't care if it's just a form letter. Just as long as I get something that lets me know you received my payment. So I'll send a nice polite e-mail asking them if they've received the payment. More then once, I (finally) end up getting the package before getting a response. Other times, they will respond and say the received my payment and that (amazingly) my item(s) will be shipped the next day. Oh well, it's still fun..especially when you get a box with say 70 carts in it like I did today. . As you go through them, you know there are going to be some dupes you already have, but you also know of a few that you don't have which you will when you pull them out of the box. And THEN, there's the ones you couldn't quite make out in the picture, and when you see it, you feel like you did when you were eight and got your first Atari. "Hey...where'd this Swordquest Waterworld come from anyway?" Cap
MrRetroGamer
So I'll sit for days and days (and no...most of these are not personal checks, but rather money orders) waiting and wondering if the person received my payment and if they did, if they sent my item.Cap You should buy from me! I send a confirmation email when payment is received (in whatever form, check, MO, Paypal) and I ALSO send an email after I actually ship your item. Furthermore, based on experience, I give an estimate of how long it will take to receive your item: 2 - 3 days for Priority Mail and depending on where you live first class can take between 3 - 7 days more or less. How is THAT for customer service? I guess that's why I have a good feedback rating (400+) with no negs and I also have many return customers.
