HI. I want to show my first Homebrew, called 1943. It was my first try to learn programming, but i think it is worth enough to show the result.

You are a Anti-Aircraft commander in WW2 and your mission is to shoot down enemy airplanes. you have 51 shots. Have fun!

Jan2010: I worked on this project, now called 1945-V1 over London. Here a first demo.

Hey good game! I do have one objection though, could the vertical cue be made bigger/more obvious? Even when you look for it it's easy to lose it ;). Well it's mainly when it becomes green like the trees, so if you can't change it's colour I think you could try making it bigger ;). Also what about the flickering?

I love it though, looking forward to your next releases.

Hi AS_N! I worked a little bit on my game. Now you will have it a little bit easier to see the cue, and the fire-range of your gun also has increased. The flickering was added to show, that your gun has fired, a explosion in the dark night. I will try to make it a better effect.

I worked on the playfield, you defend a factory area.

To Iwan: Mit dem neuen Spielfeld kann es zu keinen Verwechselungen kommen.

Blast it!! Most of us don't live in The Reich........what in Hell are you fellers saying??

WP

They're saying that you smell funny. :D No, wait, they're saying that *I* smell funny. :ponder: (Blast these stinky socks!)

Seriously, though, Google Language Tools is your friend. :)

Hello DK

Well this is quite nice. The control is getting used to but works quite well.

Nice game.

Flak 8.8 cm at the Brandenburg Gate! The index is determined!
With the new pitch there can be no confusion.

Okay, so it isn't perfect. :( But you can usually get the gist of it. It can also help if you split some of the words up-- e.g., although "Spielfeld" came out as "pitch," separating it into "Spiel" and "feld" gives you "Game" and "field," so the best translation (in this context) would be "playfield." Plugging "Spielfeld" into the dictionary section gives you "court" (or "tennis court") and "field, pitch."

gotta love those google translations. :) i *think* a more accurate translation though is:

'8.8cm flak at the brandenburg gate! that'll definitely give it away!'

...although my german is far from perfect. :)

Good update :). As for the flickering, I don't know if it's displaying as intended on Stella, because nothing changes when you fire or an explosion happens, it just constantly flickers between the regular screen with the flag of Poland (the upper half is bright orange, the lower half brown). I'm pretty amazed at how fun it is to position the cues before shooting a plane though :) somehow I think it's fun because it's more complicated than just positioning a crosshair.

Hello. I will try to explain, what we talked about in german language. If you look at the playfield of the first version you see a building, looking like the "Brandenburger Tor" in Berlin. So it seemed to be a german anti-aircraft gun in my game. Now, you defend a factory, maybe in London, Paris or Berlin. I think it is better to take the allied side, too. It´s not easy to handle the younger german history in my country.

I will look about the flickering, my stella has no problems with it. I used PAL, maybe is this the reason(?)

I will work on the explosion effects now, i´m not happy about it.

Looks a good game :)

Just say that you are defending factories and the Brandenberg Gate from Soviet bombers in '45 and you should be alright.

Oh my, it's because I was using Stella 2.2. And it's not the only homebrew game that version messed up. Now everything's fine :)

I like it, though I agree that paddles would rock for this game. I also like the alternate take in 1945, though the cursor was harder to see in that version. A name change might be good to prevent confusion with Capcom's 1943 or Psyiko's Strikers 1945 (which I was hoping that these were 2600 versions of).

I would translate it as:

"8.8cm Flak on the Brandenburgian Gate! That definitely gets indexed!"

...although my English is far from perfect. :D

I'm surprised that I would be the first to mention this, but I believe you should rename these games. It's misleading people into thinking that it is a port of the 1942 series of games.

Also, why is there no visible cross-hairs? Only when I hit the fire button do I see some kind of indicator as to where they would be.

You weren't the first to mention this. From earlier in the thread:

The name of the game will be changed. I don´t want to use the name of another game to get attention.

I think a hair-cross would make it to easy to shoot down the plane. The challange is to find out the correct height and range.

Or just do what they did in Missile Command and use a blinking "cursor"
