Cap5750
Here is the "ad": ATARI 7800 5PAK - RARE, NEW, SHRINK WRAPPED!! All System Parts have been tested and are working! Also everything is clean and in very good shape! Please Note: do to the age of the system all electronics items sold in any of my auctions are SOLD-AS-IS. I do my best to test and clean each item before I list them for sell. What's included in this auction: Atari 7800 Cartridge BARNYARD BLASTER (NEW, SHRINK WRAPPED) Atari 7800 Cartridge HAT TRICK (NEW, SHRINK WRAPPED) Atari 7800 Cartridge BASEBALL (NEW, SHRINK WRAPPED) Atari 7800 Cartridge CENTIPEDE (NEW, SHRINK WRAPPED) Atari 7800 Cartridge POLE POSITION (NEW, SHRINK WRAPPED) Perhaps he copied and pasted his description, but first he says rare which I do not think these games are. Even I have boxed versions of them. Secondly he mentioned "all system parts have been tested and are working". How did you test the games if they are new and shrink wrapped? And finally, he says "SOLD AS-IS". Haha... Cap
Philflound
You should post the link, though it's probably easy to find by description. I would email him asking him about his testing the product. I think all of these games are available from O'Sheas at $5.00 each. Haven't looked in awhile. O'Shea got wind of people making money and upped all his 2600 and 7800 games to $5.00 from $1.00. Too bad. Phil

Inky
I'm thinking that this stuff probably is 'new' but he likes to test all his stuff anyway just so he doesn't get burned, and then put them back in the box and shrinkwrapped them himself. As long as I'm dreaming, I'd also like a pony.
munkyxtc
eBay, at the very least, it's entertaining!
AtariDude
I can't be sure but I believe that the person selling those items is probably oriental and might have difficulty with the English language. I am merely guessing based upon the seller's name on Ebay.
KAZ
Here's how I think it happened. This ebayer sells electronic stuff on ebay frequently. Because of this he has become accustomed to writing this: Please Note: do to the age of the system all electronics items sold in any of my auctions are SOLD-AS-IS. I do my best to test and clean each item before I list them for sell. He probably sells alot of video game stuff, and this is what he writes on ALL of those auctions. He is probably just too lazy to change his "default" description to fit a specific situation. But it is funny for the reasons you stated. I do not think, for example, that he opens up these boxes, and then re-shrinkwrapps them. That is most likely NOT what is happening.
AtariDude
Actually I have something similar that I have as a message since I usually forget something when I write an Ebay ad. This frees me up to write the actual ad and just include the normal notes about shipping cost and contacting via email for questions, blah, blah, blah. You might be right, but then again it seems that a huge number of people here in the States, even those who are born here, can't write English properly. I find gramatical errors every day on personal and professional sites and I'm not even looking for them. On ebay it's pretty bad in general. Even the editors of this very popular site are generally sloppy with their news postings. I think many people are just lazy and/or poor typists and don't go back to proofread their posts. Certainly eBay does seem to be on the extreme end of sloppy English. ..Al
