SpendTooMuchOnAtari
Hello, my brother asked me to get him a convertor so he can use his PS2 controller on the PS3. I do not have a PS3 and to be honest haven't played one. My question is, does Sony make a convertor and if not, is there a brand that is more recommended than others? Or, are they all about the same? I see many on ebay for less than $10 shipped but I don't know which one to get. Any advice? Thanks a lot! +wood_jl
Well, sorry I can't help with what you're looking for.....but I wondered if there's a way to do THE OPPOSITE. I'd like to use a PS3 Dualshock 3 on my PS2!!! I use the Logitech and they're pretty good, but nothing's like the ORIGINAL Sony brand D-pad with the four discrete directions on 4 individual buttons. It's the tops for fighting games (etc.). Every other brand of controller has a "disc" which rocks the wrong way when you're trying to pull off said discrete moves. I don't have a PS3 and have no plans to get one (esp since they dropped backwards compatibility) but I'd like a Sony-brand cordless for my PS2!!! Any thoughts? Flojomojo
Wired controllers, yuck. Cable converters, double yuck. Why not just get some cheap SIXAXIS controllers? The price on those is dropping bigtime since the DualShock 3 came out. They will be more compatible than any kludgy converter solution. As for wood's question ... what a drag that they dropped PS2 compatibility. I my fully-functional PS3.
liveinabin
There are lots of third party cheap cables to let you plug a PS2 pad into one of the PS3's USB ports. I've got one. They work fine. Rumble is generally supported although many have problems with dedicated controllers (guitars, jogcon etc).
