dreamcastrip Posted September 25, 2008 Share Posted September 25, 2008 I downloaded the full game about an hour ago. Has anybody else done so yet? My first impression is that its an absolute AAA stunning title. Super smooth and slick with its 60fps 1080p graphics, top tunes and superb handling. I've had my PS3 from launch day and own several games that I'd rate highly but this is the first game that stands a chance of making me love it. Its fantastic, especially because it allows you to use your own music while playing the game. It also adjusts your music to the game so its really nice. I have to highly recommend this game. Its a sweet deal and you dont have to put in a CD to play. Anywone wanna race? (btw: Its been a dead crappy month or two for PS3 downloads. I also love the option of 'pilot assist' which (although I know it's 'for beginners') addresses a lot of the issues of control I've always had with Wipeout over the years. It also seems to have a much better difficulty curve, another traditional Wipeout problem. All in all, I have to say it's my favourite Wipeout ever. Absolutely stunning visuals, both in design and implementation. And Kraftwerk on the soundtrack!!! What's not to like? Anyone played with the photo mode yet? What a thing that is! Pause game (or replay), pick a ship, move the camera around 'till you have the shot you want, alter the exposure/saturation/depth of field etc. and presto! You have an awesome hi resolution jpeg. Haven't plucked up the courage to go online yet. May never do so. I'm increasingly being put off the online side of most games. All you ever get is 'career players' who just thrash you every time. I'm gonna have to start making sure to read game manuals more often... As for the online mode, the level of the competition can be pretty fierce but given that I haven't really played a Wipeout game intensely since Wip3out on PS1 and I generally seemed to finish in the middle-order of the Venom-class races I entered its not too scary! cimerians Posted September 30, 2008 Share Posted September 30, 2008 The game actually gets pretty hard. I'm trying to get medals in every race. I definetely have to switch ships to do it.
