Atarian75
I will be there as a vendor again this year. Starting to go through all the stuff I have purchased this year and pricing it for the show. Looking forward to it, although it falls on my birthday this year. Guess I will have to hit up the parties this year. -Atarian75 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/134787-midwest-gaming-classic-09/page/2/#findComment-1664664 Share on other sites

Dan Iacovelli
I'll be hosting an AA meetup in the "AtariFest" area of the museum hall. why don't combine an AA meetup with the DP meetup and just call it the MGC meet up. Retro Rogue
Because one's for DP and one's for AA, Dan. I.E. its a meeting for each group, otherwise what's the point? It would be redundant to just say "Hey everyone on all the different forums, lets meet up at MGC and call it a 'MGC Meetup'", when everyone is going there anyways regardless and the point is to have something related to the respective groups there for the people when they get there to meet up with their friends on the specific forum. Likewise "MGC Meetup" makes no sense, since you're at the MGC already. It'd be different if say, we were all going to CGE and fans of the MGC and members of the forum were going to have a "MGC Meetup" there. Retro Rogue
how about changing the meet up name to retro meet up,because when it comes down to both forums are more retro then anything else. Once again, that would defeat the purpose and be redundant because its not about being "retro". And again, the idea is people want to meet up with the people they see in their group. Otherwise, why bother having a meetup at all? Its as arbitrary as just putting out a message "Hey everyone who's interested in meeting up, go to the MGC." Whether or not people belong on both forums is irrelevant, there's a reason why there's strong and separate support bases on each forum. Just like DP and AA people (when Al was coming up the previous years) had their own after parties. As stated there will be an AA specific meetup at the AtariFest that I am hosting. The DP people will be doing whatever they're doing. If there's crossover, that's great, everyone is welcome. Everyone's also allowed to keep their own identity. If you want to go have a general "retro" meetup at your table Dan, have fun as well. Dan Iacovelli
getting back on topic: whats the news on Jagfest at MGC? does songbird have jagfest part by his table with the vendors and another part of it is at museum.(shows a month away, time to get the details straight) Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/134787-midwest-gaming-classic-09/page/2/#findComment-1683645 Share on other sites
goatdan
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check in from time to time, and I'm happy to hear about everyone coming out to the show this year! We've put together quite the year, and I think that everyone is going to be impressed over just how insanely busy this year's show is looking like it is going to be! I know that I'm excited for it. Heck, Gary and I just had a meeting that lasted until less than an hour ago, and I'm still going even though I should go to sleep so I can work tomorrow! Anyway, just wanted to reply to one thing quickly: getting back on topic: whats the news on Jagfest at MGC?does songbird have jagfest part by his table with the vendors and another part of it is at museum.(shows a month away, time to get the details straight) Like I said above, we're working on the details of about 1000 things right now. We've already announced 26 vendors (with four more on the way soon!), we are working on lining up what can only be called a huge new sponsor, we've announced three events within an event, and we have a heck of a lot more to go! You'll just have to trust me when I say that we "have the details straight", it's just a matter of when you are working with as many different groups as we are, the details aren't necessarily ready to announce until all of the pieces fall into place. Like I said, Gary and I just spent until 12:45 in the morning working on details. This isn't a small local show any more -- this is the largest all encompassing electronic gaming event in the Midwest if not the world -- and we can only work on so many things at once! Considering we've already announced more for this year's show than for all of last year's show put together, I think no matter where your interest lies, the show will have something for you! I just got confused about it when I see that carl's mention of Jagfest table and not knowing where it's at. AVC online has been and will always be a supporter of Jagfest, this why the jagfest section at the news stand hasn't been taken down, it's also why we're currently redoing the jagfest covers of the news stand editions of the jagfest issues with the cover design contests, and why the final jagfest issue will now be reworked to include jagfests up to 2007 as well a jaguar rarity guide from JS-II. I know how hard it is doing a show and getting things done. with that said I will be quiet from now to after the show. Mirage
I'll definitely be there, as usual. Nice to see there will be an AA meetup. I'll probably try to attend that since I feel like I've gotten to know a lot of you better this year than I have past years. Will be nice to put faces with names. The only person I recognized at past shows was Al, and that was only because he was selling me a Joust Pong cart and had a name tag. Must have been 2004, or maybe even 2003? Not sure which.
