ATARIPITBULL
Damn I don't know why I waited so long to buy one of these systems? I was and still am a die hard Atari 2600 player and besides the Vectrex system, I had never bought any other system before but after taking so much crap from my cousins and friends about not playing new games I said lets give it a try and what a great system. I just finished Saints Row 2 which was fun and now i'm hitting Stranglehold & Metalgearsolid 4. Right now I'm off of work for 5 weeks and after I get the kids to sleep around 9:00 PM I turn on the big screen and fire up the PS3 till 3:00 AM. My wife thinks i'm now addicted to PS3, but I feel like I just found my a game system worth of taking over my love of Atari 2600.
+remowilliams
There's nothing wrong with enjoying the hell out of the incredible gaming experiences to be had with the new systems, and the PS3 is a nice machine. I love my horde of good old systems to death, but I wouldn't for a second miss out on the amazing current games to be enjoyed. As a long standing member, I welcome you to the modern and retro gamer club.

chris_lynx1989
@ pmpddytim There are several I can list, though some title names escape me at the moment.I'll give you a few now to start it off: 1.) Ridge Racer(I think) 2.) Twisted Metal: Head-On 3.) Out Run 2006 4.) Marvel Ultimate Alliance 5.) Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron 6.)Tiger Woods PGA Golf Tour '06,'07,'08,and '09 7.) NBA Live '06,'07,'08,and '09 8.) Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. All I can think of now, that should get you going for now.
Tweety
I also like the PS3 system a lot, it goes very well next to my Atari Jaguar. Lately I have been playing "MotorStorm: Pacific Rift" a lot, and I'm addicted to that game. All races are great to play, except the speed race because its not a true speed race but a time race to get all 30 checkpoints, and I mostly get the bronze medal
Atarifever
I was there once with modern gaming. See I had a 2600 when I was real young, a Master System after that, and a SNES/Genesis. Then I took a generation off because I hated 3D at the time. Then halfway through last gen I got a Gamecube and was totally in love with it. I played it everyday. I constantly looked for new games for it and played the Hell out of it. Then I got an Xbox and played a ton of that. Then I got sick of them, and haven't felt a thing for the Wii (which me and the wife bought on a whim) and I can't find any way to really give a frig about modern gaming anymore. I thought, back in 2006, that I really wanted a 360. Now, for the life of me, I can't remember why. In fact, I can't even find much reason to play my Genesis anymore. All I want to play anymore is 2600 and 7800. This isn't a temporary dislike for gaming. It feels more like my 2004-2007 love of modern gaming was the aberration, and gaming actually ended for me with 16-bits. Just giving you a warning. In two years, you may find the "golly-gee" gone, and you'll probably be back to the ol' trusty Atari and it's actually good games. Perhaps when we hit pause on gaming (me for a generation and a half, you for about 18 years apparently), we set ourselves up to be easily wowed one day. I don't think it'll last. +remowilliams
I don't think it'll last. Not true for me at least. I was wowed by the Saturn and it's been all uphill since. I know this is primarily a retro site and all, but there have been plenty of good and great games since 1985... Still, I'll take Joust over SF2 in the first place, so even the amazing Saturn didn't end up being a permanent resident of my collection (I sold mine last month to raise money for some 7800 games). Dude.....you missed out on some cool PS1 era games. (Tomba, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania SOTN etc) Saturn had some good ones too. I was pretty much disgusted with the way things were going in the mid 90's as well and I was more of a PC gamer back then but I have to admit there's some golden eggs in there. I still have my Atari hooked up. I always go back to that for some fun all the time. I picked it up in 1981 and always held on to my games even though the original console was trashed. What does it matter if he actually does start not liking the games in two years and wants to go back to old consoles? He's enjoying these games RIGHT NOW. Yeah, I am happier when I'm there I'll try to be less of a killjoy here, but sometimes I think these forums need some perspective. What with people arguing over what modern console is king shit of turd mountain and all, while the debate over 2600 vs Inty vs O2 vs Coleco vs Vextrex still needs a resolution. Please, there are still unowned copies of Dig Dug and Demon Attack going unplayed. They need you, and you can adopt one for less than the cost of a cup of coffee a day for a week. Don't let modern gaming distract you. Act now. Gorgons are waiting. Edited January 7, 2009 by Atarifever

And also don't go into the discussions 2600 vs Coleco, Jaguar vs whatever, or PS3 vs 360. If someone likes the Atari 2600, or the PS3, or even the Sinclair ZX81 computer, please let them enjoy there machines and don't go into discussions whats better, it only ruins your gaming pleasure. chris_lynx1989
Yeah, you can't compare my Lynx to my PSP-3001,as there really is no comparison in speed, graphics, resolution, size, and being portable as a handheld unit!I grab my Lynx near me every so often and look at it.But,I can grab my PSP and play Rolling Thunder and some others my Lynx never got to see.I was really looking forward to Rolling Thunder for Lynx in 1990/1 too!You can't compare some systems,as time or technology separates them usually. You can compare 'generation versions' of games though,I think.
