So I got a PS3

New here, I just got a new PS3 a couple days ago and thought I'd check around here to see what games are good and keep up with news and such. It's the white 40 gig PS3 and it's a great machine.

It's kinda funny that now my wii, 360, ps3, psp, and ds lite are all white, and all sit besides each other . I purchased the Wii first, and while I have over 30 games for it now.. to say the games have stopped being produced on it is kinda an understatement. I don't think I've purchased anything since Mario Kart unfortunately. The 360 was pretty good and I loved the controller, but there are so many PS3 exclusives that are already out and that are coming out in 09 that I had to get one. Little Big Planet and finding a new white PS3 online basically finally convinced me to make the plunge and getting 450 clams for my ps2 and games didn't hurt either. Besides, I think it's a great idea to get all the systems that are out there any way so you don't miss out on all the software available. Also considering I have a great HDTV, it was pretty exciting to finally purchase my first Blu-Ray movie. I've gotten accustomed to the unscaled DVD playing on the 360 (which looks surprisingly crisp), but this is definately an improvement.

Currently I have the following games.. if you guys have any suggestions as to other ones, please let me know! Obviously I haven't gotten to play these all just yet.. but that's what weekends and nights are for, right?

Nice meet you guys in advance:

Little Big Planet

Lair (yea yea.. but I'm a huge Rogue Squadron fan)

Heavenly Sword

GT 5 Prologue

Motorsport Pacific Drift

Warhawk

Ratchet and Clank

Dynasty Warriors Gundam

SOCOM Confrontation

F1 Championship Edition

Virtua Fighter 5

Assassin's Creed

Metal Gear Solid 4

Grid

Soul Calibur 4

And I've reserved Street Fighter 4 of course :)

Later guys!

You need Uncharted, Folklore and Eye of Judgement.

All exclusives and all good!

Uncharted looked interesting.. kinda like Indiana Jones or something. I can't seem to find it locally though, and I was considering waiting as the new sequel was coming out soon, right? What is folklore? I've never heard of it. Eye of Judgment looked pretty interesting actually, yea. I liked how the playstation eye followed where the cards were. However, I'm not a big card game fan.. would I still like it?

I've always thought card games were for dorks and wouldn't go near them--but I like Eye of Judgment. Made myself a corkboard setup for it and I'm waiting for my usb light from dealextreme (being a projector user, lighting can be an issue for me, especially with the set 2 and 3 cards)

check walmart, mine had the whole starter setup for $30--which is quite a bit less than the camera alone.

Wow ok. I've seen the kit used at Gamestop, but it didn't come with the camera.. making the used price not really make much sense at all. I'll check out Walmart.

Btw, quick question.. I have an opportunity to get the Time Crisis 4 game with the gun. Is that any good or should I pass it up? I like the old shooters like Virtua Cop and such, but admittedly they don't seem to have a lot of replay value. It's also really hard to see how good the graphics are on the back of the box.

Skip it. It's pretty bad. I think I did a review of it somewhere on the forum.

Thanks bud, that's a shame. They really should come out with a new Virtua Cop. Heck.. a disk with HD conversions of all the old 3D Sega games would be amazing. I'd love to have 16 player online Daytona USA :D.

Yeah I second the Daytona USA idea that would really kick ass.

there is konami's gti club+

I got the demo last night, but haven't installed it yet. Still it might provide the kind of mid-90's multiplayer arcade racing needed.

I'll have to check that out. Though I heard the reviews were on the poor side. Meh, what do those guys know ;)

Anywho, I'm absolutely in love with my white 40 gig, and I've been playing Warhawk like a FIEND. Btw, I learned how to change the screen option to "Full" for the best color and the other option to make white brighter and MAN the graphics are even better than before :D. All those guys who make those "360 vs ps3" vids on games need to learn to turn those options on before comparing the systems. ANYwho...

I have a question for you, and it's bugging me...

I have an Emerson bluetooth headset. It looks very similar to the black official sony one. It has one main button to turn on/off and answer calls, and then volume controls.. that's it. I plugged it in via USB and registered the device, then entered in the code 0000 to make sure everything was high and dandy. The bluetooth headset is there, connected... everything.

Here's what's puzzling me though. When I go into Warhawk, it doesn't seem to be DOING anything. When I press down on L3, nothing seems to happen when I talk... and there's no headset symbol near my name in the lobby. How do I make this work?

Thanks in advance guys. Btw, if you want to add me as a friend my PSN ID is "ceramicsaturn"

I probably missed something but where did you get a white PS3 from? They're not available in US are they? I would have loved one of those, they've got that Imperial Stormtrooper chic.

As for the headset. Make sure the Bluetooth headset is defined as the input/output device under Settings>Accessory Settings>Audio Device Settings. Failing that, check the game menus in Warhawk (don't have it so I'm unfamiliar with it's options). It may have it's own settings for the default audio device.

Actually, funny you mention that...my PS3 is right near my TK:

Anywho, I got it at "games-asia.com"...no not playasia. This place really sucks though. ABSOLUTELY NO customer service or communication. The package was shipped airmail and took a couple weeks instead of the 2-4 day EMS I paid for ($95 down the drain).

However, it is very very hard to find one of these.. even on import sites. Especially for a good cost. I got my for 350 which was a perfect price for me. Make sure you get the Japanese model NOT the asian model (chinese ect). That way you can play US blu ray movies!

I've played the demo quite a lot since, and have come close to buying the whole thing a few times--but I just wish there were more tracks. I think there's only 3 and they're variants of the first one.

however, it does hit *ALL* the sega saturn racing points. It's fun and easy to play. Great controls, loud announcer, bright colors, no dark shadows. Oddly, Sega Rally Revo on the other hand, has to be the worst handling racing game ever, has dark spots with complex shadows on the road, and just basically misses out on being a sega racing game. Konami has really put forward a damn fine product with GTI Club+. now please give us a 'track expansion'...

Wow this game was actually fun! Thanks for the recommendation! :D :D :D I'll pray for daytona usa now if they can make an HD sega racing game like this :D
