KIWASABI
If you're interested, I did a feature for Gamasutra a while back that covers the software and some of the homebrew stuff: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3117...the_.php?page=1 Actually I read that already back when it was originally published (December, 2007; it doesn't seem like it was that long ago) and really enjoyed it. I also read the one on the Commodore 64 and one on I believe the IIE (correct me if I'm wrong there). Are any more of those features in the works? By the way, lots of Vectrex love in here. Weren't there plans to do a handheld and a color version? If so, do prototypes exist for those systems?

All the ones for that series are already published. They were actually excerpts from an as-yet unpublished book (long story). If you like that, check out my new series on Gamasutra (first entry, Pong), which is bonus content from the book, "Vintage Games", which will be available in March (link below). I thought I mentioned about the handheld and the color versions in the article. A working color prototype exists and has been demonstrated, the handheld version's development was apparently stopped when the GameBoy hit and I don't believe it got very far. Zap!
The only one I didn't like too much was Hyperchase. The control is too sensitive. True. Someone should really hack that code so it works better. Tempest Yeah, how in the world did that get by research? In 1991 or 1992, I reviewed that game in my newsletter Zap! and said it might be the worst control in history. I still think that. The controls may be a bit sensitive, but once I started playing Hyperchase, it became my favorite game on the Vectrex back then. A bit?
