If anyone is interested, its like an Oblivion type game.

It says english on Play Asia and I've been tracking this game for a while now.

Seems like its popular in Japan:

Only probem is that its a bit pricey so I may wait a little or try to find out if there is a US release date (if ever)

Looks kick ass! I love RPGs, this one might be hard to pass up if it doesn't come state side.

I know exactly what you mean and thats how I feel too.

They have been buying this game en masse in Japan so I'm going to wait and see if there is a US release.

Its a bit darker than Oblivion which is fine in my book. :P

Seriously, if it's anything like Champions of Norrath or Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, I may have to dust off my PS3. I heart action-RPG. but I don't like turn based RPG (been sick of that since Ultima IV came out), and I don't like combo based hack 'n slash (like Dynasty Warriors). Anyone picks this up, keep us enlightened.

My 1000th post!

I don't have the link at the moment, but if you check the Role Playing forums over on the Sony PS3 website, there is a thread going on about this game and at least one message contains screen shots of selection screens that show everything in English. They are also commenting on storyline, gameplay, and which version of the game to purchase.

Game sounds interesting and might be a future purchase.

Demon’s Souls is in English, just in case you want to import it

Siliconera’s reporting that PS3 RPG Demon’s Souls is voice-acted in English, so you’ll be able to play it despite the fact it’ll never get out of Japan.

The From Software game’s out of stock at Play-Asia at the moment, but we’re sure you could find it if you were enterprising.

Eurogamer posted loads of new shots over the weekend, just in case you need to be persuaded.

It says english on Play Asia and I've been tracking this game for a while now.

I've been looking for a copy of this game, and I found one I would be willing to get however it says this:

Voice - English

Subtitle & Menu & Item text - Korean <<<<<

Manual - Korean

The manual I don't care about but if the menus in the game are in Korean that's not going to work.

Is there another version of this game with English text?

I ordered the Asian version from NCSX and it sold out before they could fill all the orders, including mine. I patiently waited a week and received an Email from them yesterday (Thurs) that my copy has shipped and I'll have it in my greedy little hands by Monday.

Asian version has all English voice, all English text, and all English menu's.

There is really an excellent discussion of the game taking place on the official PS3 forums from a group of guys who have been playing the game since its release. You can read about their gaming progress by CLICKING HERE.

Okay, I got my Asian copy on Monday and finally got a chance to boot it up last night. After spending just over an hour with it, I can say:

A) It's all English.... text, voices, menu's. The manual is in Japanese or Chinese, but they included an all English card that shows controller commands, menu commands and what they do, and hints and tips.

B) Graphic's are not blow away gorgeous, but are still very good. Game is somewhat dark as many area's are unlit or very dimly lit and you project only a small light (similar to a flashlight beam) in front of you.

C) There is a tutorial to get you started in the game. But there is much, much to learn that the tutorial doesn't go into... such as Black & White souls, the Nexus, how to level up and/or improve stat's, and more.

D) The game is online and I haven't figured out exactly how that works. The minute you boot up the game (after doing a short update), you log into the Demon's Soul's servers and then start your game. Though I'm playing solo right now, I will see other players run through the domain I'm exploring and they appear as ghosts or phantoms. I know that at some point in the game I start interacting with them in my domain and I can visit their domains and interact with them also, but I haven't figured how it all works out yet.

E) You will die... and often. The game is clever and will have demon's jump out at you when you least expect it (I jumped in my chair a couple times from their surprise attack) or attack you from at distance and place that is hard to reach. And you will see bloodstains all over the place and every place you see a bloodstain is where a player died. You are given the option to touch a bloodstain and the "ghost" of the dead character will arise and sometimes you will see how that character died at that spot and sometimes the character just runs off. Not sure how it works yet.

F) The game is 3rd person.. and might be sort of "Balders Gate" inspired. You gather souls and trade them for better weapons or armor or you can repair an already owned weapon. You can buy potions as such with souls also. Its fact action as you run through domains exploring and battling demon's of all sorts. The environment is breakable and it is recommended you do so as I found some potions and a couple weapons by smashing crates and barrel's.

G) Controls are very good. You can employ one or two handed attacks, blocks, rolling attacks or rolling defensive moves, you can switch out weapons on the fly, dash attacks, and much more. And the game uses the rumble feature very, very well. You can adjust the strength of the rumble and a couple times the controller almost shook itself out of my hand.

I have much to learn and figure out about the game, but from what I've played so far, I really like Demon's Soul's and am looking forward to spending many hours with it.

Wow thanks for the mini-review Mendon. I wonder if maybe this game is co-op? That might make it easier to not die so much.

If I'm understanding correctly the thread I've been reading over on the official Sony forums, the game is indeed co-op and you can team up with other players and take on the game. And since the game isn't region locked, you will be playing with people from around the globe.

It appears to have PvP elements in it also as a few posts from others playing the game state that while they were playing, one or two other players would come into their domain and attack them.

I'm not that far into the game and don't understand yet how much of the game works: how does one play co-op or whether PvP is elective or how the Black - White tendencies work, etc etc. Be nice to be able to understand the manual, but the good news is that there is a group of players working on translating the manual right now. There are also some postings on Wiki from other players that are attempting to answer a lot of questions.

I have much, much to learn but I'm enjoying the game so far.

HERE is an excellent review of Demon's Souls. It gives you a great idea of what to expect from the game and I agree 100% with what the author says.

The game is tough, unforgiving, and relentless in its attempts to take you down.... but its also a blast to play.

I especially love this line from the review: "Demon's Souls gives you an ultimatum: Get Good or Die"!! Truer words have never been spoken.

One other thing: in the review, the author mentions a North American release for the game. From everything I've read on the internet about the game, no NA release has even been hinted at yet and in fact, the game is in short supply and still very hard to find in Japan.

Great review. I am so tempted. On one hand, I hate to have to work really hard in a game. On the other, I'm tempted because I like games that force you to develop skills, rather than just go through the motions. I'll have to check it out. If anyone has a copy to sell for $50, contact me. That is, if it can play without issue on a US PS3.

My oh My... got into my first PvP battle last night. Another player appeared in the domain I was exploring and hit me before I even knew he was there (other players appear as glowing black phantoms). Battle lasted maybe 10 seconds as he/she was very good and took me down quickly with my getting in only one hit before dying.

I was very, very surprised at first as I had never encountered any attacks before. But after my initial shock wore off, I thought to myself "Wow, this game is cool".

Mendon:

Just a few questions.

I just started playing yesterday, me and my gf/wife have charaters. Is it possible to play co-op?

Also, how do you play online? Sorry, but I have no manuals and I will be trying things tonight so I probably should have posted after the

fact but I just wanted to know your thoughts so far on online play.

Anyone else play farther into the nexus?

Its a really cool game so far but definitely on the hard side. Its got great atmosphere and I like the graphics.
