Christopher T Leach
How far does nintendo have to sink this time? Hmmm..... Lets remake games that we dont support anymore and put them on the wii selling them for more money than they would sell for last on the cube. Briliant marketing idea........or does this just chap your hiney????? Just curious but im talking about pikmin remake and the other mario title.. Pixelboy
Well, those remakes don't interest me, except for Metroid Prime 1 and 2. Playing those two games with the Wiimote, like Metroid Prime 3, should be fun.

I dunno, seems like a semi-sorta-RTS (like Pikmin) should lend itself nicely to a Wiimake. Well, those remakes don't interest me, except for Metroid Prime 1 and 2. Are they remaking those two? That would be very cool.
Wickeycolumbus
I would not say it is brilliant, but its an ok idea. Edited March 10, 2009 by Wickeycolumbus

cimerians
I think Metroid Prime 1 just got released in Japan for the Wii with Metroid Prime 3 controls.
vdub_bobby
I think Metroid Prime 1 just got released in Japan for the Wii with Metroid Prime 3 controls. That's pretty brilliant - I never understood why MP1&2 didn't have a strafe control...even DOOM had strafing!
cimerians
I guess I was right, here is the IGN comparison. I havent read the article yet but it seems like it will be worth getting for sure. moycon
Pikmin was/is one of my favorite games. Been awhile since Ive played it. Id give it another go if it plays awesomly using the Wii-mote and the price was right. (< $20) p.s. Im posting this message from my Wii! Atarifever
I think it's a good idea. Pikmin really could use the remake. I was wondering why this didn't happen earlier, and for third parties too. Do the math: Wii and Gamecube graphics often look similar, and Wii owners by and large don't care about that fact. 1 trillion zillion people have the Wii Six people had the Gamecube Companies that made Gamecube exclusives are INSANE not to try to do Wiimakes. The development is basically all done, and they can get the game to millions more people than they could before. In particular I'd like to see the Baten Kaitos games get another shot at getting the attention they deserved.
Atarifever
p.s. Im posting this message from my Wii! It'd sound funnier if you said you were posting it using your Wii. Or that you wrote it on your Wii.

(< $20) I loved Pikmin also.... .....but I'm still anxiously awaiting and looking forward to the release of the EVIL Pikmin game for the Wii: Overlord Dark Legend!!! I loved the original and can't wait for DL. Mendon
Zoop
I see nothing wrong with what Nintendo's doing. I'm enjoying Pikmin much more with Wiimote controls now I can't wait for DK Jungle Beat ,and Metroid Prime. Hopefully they keep going with this ,and rerelease Luigi's Mansion, Geist, Eternal Darkness,LoZ Wind Waker, and Mario Sunshine.
Emehr
I love the idea of being able to play Metroid Prime and its sequel with the MP3 controls. I never had a problem with the GC pad with those games, but now that I've had the Wiimote experience it's kind of hard to go back. I still need to finish Echoes, though. I'm towards the end but I have to do some backtracking to finish up some loose ends (get some keys or something) and, well, it's been a while since I played and...you know how that goes! liveinabin
While the Play Control series is not the worst idea in history, charging close to full price for these games is theft on a level that only Nintendo can pull off. These should be half price. They're hardly remakes, just tweaked code and the work involved in no way justifies what they're charging for them. I assume for the UK the prices have been upped to compensate for the weak pound. AFAIK did Nintendo recently even raise(!) the price for the Wii itself in the UK
liveinabin
They raised the unit price to stores. I'm not aware that the increased cost has been passed on to customers yet though. Half price isn't too bad for the games. In UK, they're £30 (Wii games are £40) which is insane. Given that titles like Endless Ocean debuted for £20 there's just no excuse for this. liveinabin
But I can get the GC originals for practically nothing. Thanks for looking though.
Cybergoth
But I can get the GC originals for practically nothing. That's why so far I'm only interested in MP1/MP2. I never played them before and I really liked MP3s controls
Bilnick
$30 is a little steep for old games with a new control scheme, I think $20 would be a more fair price point. It would be nice if Nintendo sold a downloadable patch for the Wii controls to owners of the GC game for $5- $10. If I didn't buy the original Gamecube games it is highly unlikely I would spend $30 now for the same game I passed on before, and if I already own the Gamecube version I don't see $30 worth of value in new controls. Technically, I don't think it's feasible since the Wii goes into "Gamecube mode" when you insert a GC game and thus doesn't recognize Wiimote input for the games. If I didn't buy the original Gamecube games it is highly unlikely I would spend $30 now for the same game I passed on before, and if I already own the Gamecube version I don't see $30 worth of value in new controls. The Metroid Prime game has support for HD. One of the sites (linked in this thread, I believe) compared GC Prime to Wii Prime. There's value in that, I guess, for owners of HDTVs (which excludes me!).

You would quickly run out space on the internal flash drive. And you know that you wouldn't be able to store it on an external SD. Can't let convienance get in the way with DRM you know!
