jlnsctt
Look at the shipping charges for this one! I'm going to email him and ask whether the bubble mailer is gold plated. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1382061804
Lemmi
I hope he just goofed up, as the starting bid is $9.95 and the shipping is $9.95 as well this happened a couple times for a guys auctions i was always watching, and i asked him and he said it was a goof up on his part If it isnt a goof up, i would ask if shipping media mail would cost $
JagMX
i wouldnt be surprised if thats the regular shipping cost, shipping is out of control on ebay. and i dont recommend media mail lemmi thats like the post office bringing it to your house by foot, while enduring a hellacious battle along the way
Albert
After looking at some of the guy's other auctions I'm sure that the $9.95 is the right shipping cost. For another example, look at this auction for some PDA stylus pens. These weigh practically nothing. What's the shipping charge? $9.95. Even shipped Priority Mail, these would cost absolutely no more than $3.85, plus 45 cents for Delivery Confirmation. And you could probably ship these in a bubble mailer for around a dollar or so. ..Al
moycon
I sent him a question asking if he was gonna drive the cart to my house if I bid and win.
moycon
Here's the reply: Thank you for your insight. Standing in line for an hour cost too. and we ship USPS priority mail. I replied: HehHeh, I too sell items on ebay. I never thought to pass on the cost of my time to the buyer. I usually just charge them for shipping plus what it cost me to purchase a box.... about $1 (.80 actually) I'll pass on this auction.... thanks. I can say at least he lets you know ahead of time. Some folks don't list a shipping price and then stick you at the last minute. I avoid those auctions or email them ahead of time. Still... I'd bet $9.95 no one bids on this. MrRetroGamer
Most of the so-called "power-sellers" on EBAY have higher-than-normal shipping charges for most of their auctions. Everyone has their own method, and the guy was upfront with you. While the cost seems unreasonable to most of us, I wouldn't argue with the guy about it. He is entitled to set the terms of his auctions as he sees fit. His feedback isn't too bad either, so he does have happy customers. Keep in mind, just because YOU can ship that item for $3.85 doesn't mean someone else is willing to ship for the same cost, whether actual or inflated. Albert
Here's the reply: Thank you for your insight. Standing in line for an hour cost too. and we ship USPS priority mail. This is just another case of someone padding their bottom line. You can simply choose not to deal with sellers like this, which is what I do. And if this guy is standing in line mailing Priority Mail packages, he's wasting his time. There are several alternatives to doing this now. I setup a Stamps.com account for AtariAge that allows me to print postage for packages, including those I send via Priority Mail (which is how we ship nearly everything). All I have to do is waltz into the post office, drop the packages on the counter, and leave. The only time I have to stand in line is when mailing packages internationally, due to the required customs form. As our store (hopefully) gets busier, we will probaby only make "international runs" to the post office twice a week, since standing in line and filling out those customs forms does take a lot of time. ..Al
Buyatari
I love it when you guys get all upset about a seller and feel the need to email him telling him so. Why waste your time? Why waste his time? You can't let it go. You just have to email the guy and harass him. Shipping is too high? Don't bid. Can't blame the guy for trying to cover his costs. Ebay listing fees, Ebay final ending price fees, Paypal fees, packing costs, shipping costs, plus time involved. Hell I started to jack up my shipping prices on the small items as well. Otherwise its a waste of time to sell the small stuff. Adam
Albert
Shipping is too high? Don't bid. I agree with you and I'm sure that's what most people will do. The people that don't look at the fine print at the bottom of the auction, win a game for $20, and then realize they have to pay another $10 just to get the item shipped to them will learn their lesson. Or they did read the fine print and either don't care about the shipping cost or really need the game and are willing to pay handsomely to get it. ..Al
brett6400
Yes, at least this guy posted his HIGH shipping up front and clearly displayed. Bid on the item with the shipping in mind. If he would have NOT posted shipping on the 3 pack stylus, for example, and then emailed the $9.99 shipping, that would be very LAME. Standing in line for an hour? I don't think I've ever stood in a line for an hour, oh yeah, in 1983 I did to get good seats for Return of the Jedi on opening nite.... sheesh. I don't think I've ever stood in a line for an hour, oh yeah, in 1983 I did to get good seats for Return of the Jedi on opening nite.... sheesh. Some of the post offices here in Austin are attrocious and you could easily stand in line for an hour if you visit during the wrong time of the day (which happens to be fairly often, especially at the one where we have our PO Box). It seems to be hit and miss when I need to stand in line, but a half hour wait is not uncommon at all. ..Al
