Deteacher
This week's game is Food Fight. Sorry for the lack of updates. I've had family up visiting and haven't had much time for much else. I will get everything updated ASAP. Use ROM version Rev. 3. ROMname is foodf. +SpiceWare
50,900 Interesting game. I noticed controls aren't quite that good via MAME, I was unable to select D when entering a high score. While you're playing the controls seem fine, but that letter selection screen is useless. Shannon
I think that the original food fight used something like a 16 direction stick or something like that. aftermac
I know longer think this is an interesting game I'm sorry... this just always seems to happen with the games I pick... +SpiceWare
No problem - I don't think the issue is the game, I think it's that the controls don't emulate well (such as Marble Madness). Shannon
Drat! Was hoping to get in a few rounds last night and the power went out! Urrgh... Hopefully it will be back on when I get home and I can squeeze a few in before noon. darthkur
130,000 I changed my strategy from trying to hit as many chef's as possible on the way to the cone to just making a mad dash to the goal and taking out only the chef's that get in the way. It made a huge difference. Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/142008-season-1-week-14-food-fight/#findComment-1724016 Share on other sites
+SpiceWare
Could also be the controller itself - the Analog Sticks on the Playstation controller can move in a circle while the ones on my Logitech controller are restricted to a square Maybe I should check into a PS2->USB adapter. That could be part of it. Have you tried using the d-pad for movement? You only get 8 directions, but I'm curious if that might be less restrictive than your analog stick. +SpiceWare
The d-pad seemed worse due to 8 directions. I'm running some errands today, will hit Fry's and Microcenter to see if they have a Playstation Controller->USB adapter. I'd seen them before, just don't recall where. Shannon
I looked up the game at klov and the original uses an analog stick. My memory may be fuzzy but I think there is a way to put it in service mode and "calibrate" the stick to be more accurate. But it definitely helps to have some type of analog stick. I guess this HSC is over right? Our power came back on at 03:30 eastern time.... +SpiceWare
Using the PS2 to USB joystick adapter helped a lot - it took a week for me to increase by 2,600 points, yet after a few rounds with the PS2 adapter I gained 23,200 points! Needless to say, the game is once again interesting I found it at Fry's for $20. It supports 2 controllers and is an HVG2 PS2 to USB Converter, Model PS203.
