ARTWORK CONTEST: NTSC Atari 2600 RACER Project

Recommended Posts

Any way we could get some screenshots from Stella? I'm no artist, but I might give it a shot.

I don't think it's even been dumped yet. I'm sure screenshots are forthcoming.

A.) It's dumped.

B.) There are "screenshots" in the DP link.

Those of us that made it to SC3 last weekend got to see and play it in person. :D

Mitch

That and some other games that will be released soon.... ;) One game at a time!!! :)

That's what happens when you do not go to SC3.....

Many of you have sent me PM's wanting to acquire this game..... I lost count but I may need to make more than 100 of these to satisfy market demand. I will be putting a sales thread once I get the prices finalized. At think point, I will be offering two options- CIB package or cart only; a CIB numbered series (1-50) and a cart only series (51-100).

Remember, this thread is just for the artwork so I need to honor the submissions before I can even start mass producing the carts. The artwork contest will expire May 11, 2009 at midnight (Sunday night going into Monday morning).

If you have any questions, please PM. However, at this point, hang on tight for the sales thread. :)

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding!!! :)

Wonder007

I already said I commit to buying one, I seem to have been close to the first so I would like a CIB but just want one. (numbers do not matter to me but I would like a box if possible) I just wanted to make sure I said I want one early so I don't miss out or have to hope like Pac Jr..

I dont care about the cost...its going to be good....Sign me up NOW! :D

Diddo I love boxed games...Its sad that most of the time I want the box more than the game....somethings wrong with me...I know. :P

Count me in for a loose copy!!

For the grey label artwork, does anyone know the copyright year that it should have? Was there ever a CX number assigned to it? It'd be nice to have that in the fine print if it's known.

Kind of looks like a cross between Indy 500 and Pole Position. Does the screen scroll vertically then?

Yes, the screen rolls vertically.

In terms of year, I would say circa 1983 but I may be wrong......

The purpose of this thread is to attract artwork submissions, yet people insist on derailing it by turning it into a reserve list. Wonder007 already stated quite clearly that there's no list yet. This is the problem. I just love when someone releasing a game says they're not ready to start a reserve list, yet gimme-gimme people insist on posting "put me on the list anyway" or sending a PM to that effect. Then they claim later that "I was first!".

It's just plain rude and it's not fair to other people. In cases like this, if Wonder007 is to honor people who say they want to reserve one in this thread (or send him a PM now) and the game sells out, inevitably other people will end up getting shut out when he starts the real sale. Then those people will say "but that's not fair...I never saw that other thread!".

I've missed out on games in the past myself and I want one one of these too, but I'll wait until Wonder007 says he's ready to accept orders/reservations.

Although my advice to Wonder007 would be to start some kind of a reserve list (in an attempt to judge demand) before you have the cartridges made. Use this info to make enough cartridges to meet demand as closely as possible. If you need to charge more, then just do so. It's getting ridicluous where there's this mad scramble every time someone decides to release a cartridge, but part of the problem is people creating these artificial shortages through 'limited' editions that do not meet demand. Limited runs also attract people that would have little to no interest in the game otherwise, and encourage them to buy the game if only to flip it.

Realistically, it should probably have a 1982 copyright year, since it was developed before Crazy Climber...but I suppose either would do.

No, there was never a CX number assigned to the game, since it wasn't an Atari project. It was developed by an outside firm who attempted to sell the game to Atari. It doesn't appear that Atari ever seriously considered publishing it, so it never went any further than that and was never on Atari's master list.

Put me on the list now please. I don't want to be away from the site for a few hours and miss a game. As long as it isn't a $500 limited release I commit right now, I want one.

My thoughts exactly. I've missed a few limited runs due to this fact. I want on the pre-pre list. :D

OK, it's time to actually respond to this thread the right way by actually entering the contest. What a novel concept.

Here is my attempt

The *right way* would have been to PM Wonder with your graphite splashed on bleached dry tree mulch scan you posted above. :ponder: :P

Well so far mine is the best since no one else has submitted anything. :P
