carmel_andrews
were any of the 5200 games adapted for the 4 port 5200 or were there 'ANY' 4 player games for the 5200 4 port version If not, was there any logical reason why atari did 2 versions of the 5200, considering that very few 4 player games ever made it out for the a800 mind you, if they had been converted, the 5200 would have made an ace gauntlet or rampage games system (as both games had 4 player mode in the coin op version)
SoundGammon
...the 5200 version of Realsports Tennis supports 4 players on a 4-port system. Set the game for doubles and hit the 4 key on the keypad and presto-4 player tennis! Oh yes, you need 4 controllers, sticks and/or trackballs... +Mitch
Yeah, RealSports Tennis, Super Breakout and the Asteroids proto are the only original 5200 games that support all 4 ports. There are also a few homebrews. Mitch
atariron82
The RealSports Basketball ver. 1 prototype also supports 3 and 4 players in doubles mode. Its a shame neither this version nor the final one made it out the door. Ron
carmel_andrews
from what it sounds like then, the big A wasted mucho money making a 4 port 5200 when it should have concentrated all efforts on just the 2 port 5200 and making that the big A's jewel in it's line up/crown
Video
I believe the Homebrew Combat 2 has a four player mode, but I only got one working stick (as nobody IRL likes this old stuff) It's packed away though, so I can't look it up.
