eBay's Acquisition of PayPal is Complete

Dear PayPal Member,

We are pleased to announce that eBay's acquisition of PayPal is complete. PayPal's shareholders approved the transaction on October 3, 2002, and PayPal and eBay are now working together on a common goal: to help our buyers and sellers trade online.

Easier Payments on eBay

As you can see, not much has changed on PayPal's website, but some exciting changes are coming to eBay's. We know that many of you want to see PayPal integrated into eBay, so that is one of the first things we are working to accomplish.

Within the next few weeks, we plan to begin integrating PayPal into eBay's website so it will be easier for buyers and sellers to use PayPal. In the first phase of integration, you will see PayPal featured on eBay's Sell Your Item and View Item pages. Further integration will happen over the coming months; we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Non-Auction Services

PayPal will continue to offer its non-auction services, including its Web Accept website payment tools and popular ATM/Debit Card. PayPal will also be introducing some exciting new features in the weeks ahead, such as the ability to transact in Euros and Pounds Sterling. Look for this new option to come online before the end of October.

Thanks to our Members

Thank you for your support of PayPal. We hope you share our excitement about bringing PayPal and eBay together. We look forward to making your online transactions faster, easier, and more secure.

Sincerely,

Meg Whitman,

CEO, eBay

All I know is that if there is a fee increase, I'm dumping paypal. I can do without it and go back to the original payment method of check and money order. I always try and keep as little money in my paypal account. They have a tendency of screwing people over and if I don't have a lot of money in it, I won't feel so bad. These fees are getting ridiculous. I'll even mention this in my auction if I'm forced to not accept paypal due to increase fees. If they are smart, they'll just leave things as-is.
