Starscream
Anyone else in the beta Update preview?
moycon
I received an email saying that I was selected and that I would get another email telling me how to get the update. However, another email has yet to come. JagMX has it. He said it was slower than the old dash!! WTF!!??

Starscream
You shouldn't need the other email. I just signed in today because I knew that's when the rolled it out, and I was prompted for the update. It took maybe 10 minutes to install and the Netflix one is a seperate download you need too. Overall, it looks the same and my dash is still as fast as it always was ( mine never slowed even with the last big update).
moycon
Overall, it looks the same and my dash is still as fast as it always was ( mine never slowed even with the last big update). The issue I have isn't with the dash I guess, it's loading the games and movies that I've purchased, or heck just browsing for downloads in the store. Used to be lighting fast (back when the dash was all blades) now it sits there. Granted I have a lot of purchased content, but it shouldn't do that just browsing the store. When i click on a game or flick Im interested in, I have to sit and wait for the trial or purchase download to show up. Everything else it there (summery, screenshots etc...) but the part where you click to download takes a bit to come up. I see why I didn't get the update. I gave them the wrong console ID, damn things been swapped out so much it's changed like 3 or 4 times. I just noticed I sent them the old ID. Oh well. Everything seems to appear instantly. We don't have tons on there, maybe thats why.

I do have a shit load of content. I should try and delete most of the games off one of the units and see if it helps any.
cimerians
Yeah mine just sits there too, I always wished to be able to revert back to the blades but considering its a system update it would never happen. The good news I hear is that games installed to the harddrive will now be compressed to save space.
moycon
The good news I hear is that games installed to the harddrive will now be compressed to save space. Interesting.... http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/new-xbox...drive-installs/ Posters on Cheap Ass Gamer who keep track of Xbox 360 hard drive installs noticed that those who'd been admitted to the dashboard update preview program were seeing games take up markedly less space than before (a fact later confirmed by Digital Foundry). How much smaller? Well, DF noticed that King of Fighters XII and Raiden Fighters Aces went from 3.4GB to 703 and 484MB respectively, post update. Although admittedly I've never installed any games.
