XT
Hi Guys, I would like to know what you all think my 2600 is worth. I was thinking of putting a ad in the local paper, or maybe selling it on ebay <Gasp!> I would just like to to know what you think is a fair asking price for something like this, you guys know your stuff more than anybody offline I could ask. The system has 2 joysticks, the paddle controllers, 2 extension cables and 30 games. It even has a box. I took a pic with my friends digital camaera and laid everything out. I'd appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks

Cupcakus
Ebay will probably bring you about $30 to $40 I would think.... If you're lucky enough to get a bid war, maybe $50. That's my quess.
Chris++
I would completely avoid E-Bay if I were you. It's not worth the hassle (or the detriment to our hobby). Post a message in the Marketplace Forum here, including your e-mail address. People WILL write to you and make offers. An advantage that this provides: AA people are honest, intelligent, gracious, and very polite -- with VERY few exceptions. And the offers you get will be reasonable; I know of nobody here who would try to screw another Atari player. CF
Eduardo
Well IMO if I were you I would sell the system with 5 games only, now considering you have the original box and you're including the paddles, a typical VCS sells for $30 but the box and paddles adds at least $10 to the regular value so you could ask $40-$50 for the system with 5 games and sell the rest of the games at $2 each allowing you to make an extra $50 just out of the games. MegaManFan
If you sold it offline you could probably get $45. That's presuming $25 for the system and a minimum $1 each for the games. On eBay YMMV.
Philflound
Well, it looks like 21 games, not 30. Where are the other nine? Also, here are the games I would seperately sell. Ebay is fine. Don't listen to these people. I live off of it. If someone offers you a reasonable price, then don't bother with Ebay, but you should be able to get $40 for the Atari with the games not listed below. Especially since your box and stuff looks mint. Also, do your games have boxes/instructions? That is a big plus. Here are the games I would sell seperately. You should get anywhere between $3-10 for them depending on who's looking at them. Also, if some of the games you have besides the Breakaway IV are Sears versions, I'd list them as a lot seperately too, else leave the B IV with the system. The games are 1 Alien 20th century Fox 2 Smurfs: Rescue in gragamels castle 10 Lost Luggage 15 Dolphin 16 Burgertime Phil
XT
Thanks for the help everybody Phil, thanks for the solid advice as well. I thought I had 30.. guess not. I have no boxes or manuals for the games, alot of them i bought second hand that way. Would it be safe to say, sell everything I had listed including the games you seperated for 60 dollars. That would be fair right? if so, thats what I will be asking. I dont want to short myself, but I also want to give somebody a good deal. Thanks
General Atarian
I would be interested in lost luggage.
Chris++
I live off it. Phil, saying things like "don't listen to these people" is sort of contrary to the different sorts of advice a posting user wants, don'tcha think? I used to have such fun hunting for games in thrift shops, flea markets, etc. Now, everyone tells me, "Some guy buys all of them as soon as they come in, so he can sell it." So people like you are screwing up one of the fun bits of the hobby (besides the actual playing) by buying things just to sell them on that goddamn E-Bay. This doesn't mean that others have to do the same shit. You "live off it?" Get a real job! Sheesh. CF
