Wickeycolumbus
I think a fairly accurate port can be done with tons of RAM. With 16K of RAM, a 170*96 pseudo frame buffer can be made were talkin bout the 2600 here not the 8-bit comps! lol I'm talking about the 2600 too John Payson's '4A50' cart has 64K ROM and 32K RAM which would be perfect for a project like this. smartkitten26
I do however agree that it was sort of out of line for Nati to start working on YOUR project with out your permission. Sorry, i got kind of carried away
jrok
It doesn't make sense to fight over this. I disagree in general that a "1-to-1" port would be possible, no matter the kernel designed... "1-to-1" would necessitate things that would far exceed the ability of the 2600 to display. *For the sake of gameplay* certain elements would have to be sacrificed or altered. That said, I've been doing a little work on an SMB-like game since this thread started, and at this point I believe that someone could get quite close. The basic mechanics are certainly well within reach, and with some creativity many of the actual worlds could be modeled 1-to-1 (at least, in terms of platform and enemy placement). But in a way, I think that if someone can capture the actual spirit of the game, it would be a crashing success. But that has little to do with converting the song, graphics or title screen IMO. Sorry, i got kind of carried away I don't think you did anything wrong. Changing little things like controller scheme and graphics seems perfectly fine to me.
