Synthpopalooza
That is a neat trick too. I always wondered if the GTIA mode or color registers could be stuffed at the end of each line to increase the color resolution ..
Synthpopalooza
Also in the first post ... in 2009 i was a straight up newbie to Atari stuff ... hadn't touched an 8-bit Atari since my teenage days in the 80s. I discovered the Yoomp! game written by some Polish guys back in the day, remember being amazed that people were still coding amazing stuff for my favorite computer even in the 2000's ... and that was it. I got the retro-computing bug again Then I found Bill Kendrick's Gem Drop game with it's Super IRG 14 color Antic 4 mode ... then kinda went nuts with the concept. This program, and a spate of picture experiments, were the result. It got me #4 at ABBUC and a writeup in Atari User, surprisingly.
Ecernosoft
Honestly, if you need more COLOR... 1. Use DLI to trigger start of screen 2. change the colors, then WSYNC and repeat for 192 scanlines 3. Resume of code and REPEAT! Then, you basically get double the amount of ATARI 2600 sprites with 1 color per line AND similar graphical capabilities with the PF!
