invisible kid
I wrote a small Asteroids type program that I wanted post here before I end up losing it to a hard drive crash or some such. I posted here as opposed to the programming forum, because I don't really see me doing any more work on it. It has many short comings, but the nice parts are that it is full-screen, pretty smooth, accurate ship rotating scheme, and nice space drift. I haven't tried it on a real machine, so it would be nice to get feedback how it works there if at all. It isn't much, but I know sometimes anything new is nice. The attached file is a zip of an xex and an atr. asteroids_sim_0.1.zip

I'm taking my 800xl and sio2sd to the event so I'll pop your game onto the SD card and let people have a go. Will let you know what they think. Bryan
Interesting. That has a really authentic feel to it.
+Philsan
Very nice. Why abandon such a good project?
+Allan
I tried it on a real machine. Other than some garbage on the copyright screen, it works fine. Very fast. Allan

Oops, I wasn't quite clear on this, but it isn't a fully functioning game. Hopefully it will still be fun to play around with. Interesting. That has a really authentic feel to it. Thank you. Yeah I was going for feel as opposed to looks, but that's easy to see. lol Very nice. Why abandon such a good project? Thank you. Well, It's a very 'by the book' type of program with no special tricks, and can only handle the one big asteroid, heheh. I am unable to add any more without it slowing down, and I don't think it will be quite as good flickery, or cutting corners. As others have said, this graphics mode doesn't lend itself to Atari's strengths. But I think I will try a new project that uses the Atari's strengths more. I tried it on a real machine. Other than some garbage on the copyright screen, it works fine. Very fast. Allan Yeah, sorry about that. Since I had stopped getting any real work done on it, I just wanted to slap a quick author/copyright screen on it and didn't take the time to do it properly.
