Albert
If anyone listens to National Public Radio (NPR) in the morning, you might want to pay particular attention tomorrow (Thursday) at around 55 minutes into the hour. The actual hour will depend on when your local NPR station starts the Morning Edition show. ..Al
Lemmi
National Public Radio ?? would that be on the AM side of the dial?
oesii
NPR is usually on the FM dial, news and information. Public broadcasting. etc. If you get Detroit stations, this station carries Morning edition: http://www.wdetfm.org/ 101.9 FM

The Night Phantom
The Night Phantom has a Morning Job (alas), and I usually listen to Morning Edition. Well, parts of it, since I tend to drift back into and out of sleep. By 55 minutes into the first hour, I am usually scrambling like a madman to get out of bed and into the bathroom for my shower and other bathroom business. So, to listen to the show tomorrow, I’ll have to force myself to get up earlier (like I should every day), so that I’ll have time to listen to this mysterious story. So, I guess I’d better go to bed now. Night-night!
Tempest
All I heard was some dumb story about ferries in New York, I must have missed it. Tempest

oesii
You know I was thinking, first the New York Times and now NPR, is Albert going to be asked to contribute to the Oxford English Dictionary next? Maybe a Nobel prize in the future?
Callipygous
Huh? What? People going around playing and collecting old video games. Sounds like one of them internet rumors to me. You can't always believe everything you hear, even on NPR. (Nice job, Albert!)
Atar1G1rl
Woohoo! That was cool! So that's what Albert sounds like.. You can scroll down the page here for the clip if you missed it: http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm...17/2002&PrgID=3 Titled "Old Video Games Now Collectibles"
skywalker2000
I was changing stations when I heard the word ATARI on NPR as I changed the station. Of course I went back and listened the interview. I was shocked when he said Atariage. You see, I never saw the posting saying anything about the interview. I ran into the interview by mistake. My wife and I were laughing because Albert was describing "me". He was saying everything I do. I guess we all get our games on ebay or the flee market. I think it's great that Atariage made it to NPR news. : )
The Night Phantom
Around 6:55 this morning I also heard a story about ferries, and I thought that was a pretty rude way for NPR to talk about retrogamers. Seriously, I missed the story, but at least I got up in time to shave and to have a decent breakfast. Later I listened to the story on the Web, via the page that Atar1G1rl mentioned. I’m guessing it aired around 55 minutes into Morning Edition’s second hour. It was a nice piece (though not very informative for an old AtariAge vet), and I think Albert did a nice job of presenting the situation. I’m also a little envious that he got to talk with Bob Edwards—I love hearing that sonorous voice in the morning. I’m glad to see that in at least one case the interview has already gotten someone in touch with our little hobby.
MattyXB
Thanks, thats great. I have copy it me now as WAV-File. And must see, that I can maybe a MP3-File from it. But now I have not much time. I have it Mono, but I think this is no problem.

trusty
DOH!! It's in RA format... I refuse to load that garbage software on my system! I'm sure it was great though! It's great to see that so many people are out there are still into the classics! WELCOME ALL TO ATARIAGE!!!
Atari2600Phreak
so here it is in MP3 format. I'll leave this up for a few days, but please be gentle--I only have 128kbps upstream.
Atari2600Phreak
Sorry for the late reply--I normally listen to NPR (honestly!), but completely missed that. I'm glad the post got bumped up. You sounded great--no way in hell would I have been able to be that articulate as nervous as I would have been being interviewed by Bob Edwards. Excellent job!
