2 worthy video game podcasts

I subbed for quite some time earlier on, but have since cut way back on 'casts (& listening in general). I did enjoy TRL despite some minor quirks & admired their longevity & dedication.

There has to be a reason for all this.

It is strange that everything is gone. That seems like someone was upset.

I had/have most of them too, & made a little $$$ back by selling these ;)

I'm keeping the Starfleet Voyager & Space Command Center (both sets in pic upper right), I never had them.

The blue & grey ship ("Space Cruiser") on the leftmost crater plate is my all time favorite set. I got mine when I was 7 & can build it from memory.

Those are some great, old Legos. I had some space sets myself growing up.

It's really sad to see The Retro League go. They were a big inspiration for me starting my YouTube show, which lead to a podcast as well. I was even fortunate enough to be a repeat guest on their show, and was going to be on their end of the year episode, but that was before the show ended quickly and unexpectedly.

I'm hoping the old episodes become available again at some point in the future.

Phil maybe you are comfortable enough with Hughes &/or Rob to ask/find out what happened? Surely they'd realize ppl would be left hanging & wondering?

All I know is that Hugues will be still be running his website, https://huguesjohnson.com

He recently uploaded an old, holiday Captron catalog from 1993, which I never heard of Captron before, but the catalog has an EB style.

As for the reasons for the podcast ending, I don't know, but they are apparently a private matter, which I respect.

I'm going to miss it.

Wow. I stopped listening to TRL a few months ago during a podcast purge. They did a great job, just that most of their content wasn't my thing. I got to meet Hugues at Midwest Gaming Classic this year. His daughter tried to play b*nQ at our table and I realized that the Edladdin All-Play 4/8 in 4-way mode plus b*nQ in diagonal mode = unplayable. :)

I listen to almost any retro related podcast I hear about. I really enjoyed the format TRL podcast had. It wasn’t like any other podcast retro or modern. I work in a noisy machine shop all day with sound blocking headphones on. I would much rather listen to a podcast than listen to machines cutting steel. After 10 years it starts to get a little bit old. Ofcourse I started listening to TRL in 2009 so its a bit of a shock after never missing an episode .
