+Random Terrain
One of the best games on the 3DO is Star Control II. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiSO_gJXNuw&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 You can download the 3DO version of the game and play it on your computer for free too: http://sc2.sourceforge.net/downloads.php I loved Shanghai: Triple-Threat. One of the games on there reminds me of the Connect 2 free online game that I have on my web site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1AByweDBWU&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Slayer was cool because of the random dungeon generator. Talk about randomness and replayability. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcv296o0LSs&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 The Horde was fun for a while. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LveA7-pFqU&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 Theme Park is worth owning. It was my first amusement park game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3tb7y9J6qE&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 Need for Speed was pretty amazing-looking at the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sylCEKinO0w&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 I kind of liked Quarantine back then, but it's hard to go back to now since it's so blocky compared to the games of today. It's like a futuristic Crazy Taxi with guns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut6IIVBwFow&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 I had a sampler with a Captain Quazar demo on it. The little I got to play of it made it seem like the game might be worth owning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTbaTW9eOK4&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=0 If you like platform games, even a little, then you must have Gex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ndsre5cBXhA&rel=0&fmt=18&showinfo=

Smatchmo
My favorite was the Horde, though being a Growing Pains fan I'm a bit biased.
Silverfleet
Return Fire is probably my favorite 3D0 game. It's pretty much capture the flag with military vehicles! Very fun game. Also, the 3D0 has a mean port of Wolfenstein 3D. Some other good games for it: -Samurai Showdown -Super Street Fighter II Turbo -Starblade And just for laughs... Way of the Warrior! It's hilariously bad, but I think it's worth owning. It's fun to pop in every once in a while to see how far games have come in the past 15 years. Austin
Be careful on random buys for the 3DO, especially with the rising prices (something I really don't understand). The system had a really large library, but thanks to a lack of quality control, much of it is garbage. Not to say it doesn't have a lot of games worth owning, though--I just suggest watching a lot of YouTube videos before picking up some titles outside of common recommendations... Here are my picks that are still very playable even today (I know I am missing a few): Bladeforce Guardian War Wolfenstein 3D Escape From Monster Manor Super Street Fighter II Turbo Gex Alone in the Dark (Avoid the 3DO version of part II like it's the plague) Out of This World Flashback Battle Chess Novastorm Samurai Showdown Star Control 2 And if you were a fan of it, despite using smaller sprites and hardly-configurable controls, I remember Primal Rage being a very smooth port ("smooth" being something the 3DO wasn't well-known for). misspent_youth
I've got to throw another vote in for Space Hulk. Very fun mix of strategy and FPS, and plays better than its PS1 counterpart. Also, Need for Speed had the best feel of any of the ports of that game. I know, 'feel' is a subjective thing, but my opinion is all I have to offer. Three CL hits within a few months. I love 3do, I don't get the point of the adult stuff (rare, valuable, but honestly... even back in the day Cinemax, or HBO were 1000x better if you were that needy). mattyg
I love the 3DO I have 3x FZ-1s 2x Goldstars 1x FZ-10 1x Sanyo TRY and just about every accessory you can name - FMV modules , arcade sticks , mouse etc .......and 196 titles. You are best to check out my good friend the 3DO kid's youtube top 50 You will be surprised at the number of quality titles that did make it! It WAS ahead of its time - rule of thumb is anything by EA , Crystal Dynamics or Studio 3DO are virtually must-haves!
Austin
I have to admit, the 3DO Kid's videos are kind of goofy.... How is that Sanyo TRY unit? I didn't know about that model until recently. There's one that's been on eBay for a while now.

AX No 3DO games require the FMV module - all developers used a different video compression for their games that used the machine's OS. The FMV module is only required to view non 3DO logo VCD's.
