Parrothead
Keith Robinson announced today that he has finally secured a publishing deal for Intellivision LIVES! DS. This is great news as he has been trying to find a publisher for a few years now. I have seen and played a development copy of Intelli DS and it is one sweet package. It fits perfectly on the DS as the top screen is for game play and the bottom screen features beautifully recreated touch screen controller overlays needed to play the games. This was meant for two screens. It will feature multiplayer too! The official announcement will be made at CES in January. jaybird3rd
Damn, and I just sold off my DS! Perfect timing!!! Seriously, though, this is great news. I'm glad to see that they've finally found a publisher after all this time. With the touch screen acting as a video overlay, the games will probably be more comfortable to play on the DS than on an authentic Intellivision controller! Too bad the collection is missing some of my favorites (such as BurgerTime and Diner), but this is probably due to licensing restrictions.

Jess Ragan
This is terrific! It is a shame they couldn't get the rights to the Data East games, as those really were the best ones on the system. Still, Keith fought the good fight and finally prevailed. I think he should offer Normy's Beach Babe-o-Rama as a bonus, since it was developed by Realtime Associates and starred his characters. Atariboy
Wanted to say more earlier, but was on the way out the door when I saw the topic title. Any word on if it will be a full fledged DS release, or did they get Nintendo's no DSiWare emulation restrictions lifted? Hoping it's a legitimate retail release and not just a download (Though I'll buy it either way).

Video
Wonder if the games will boot to the INTV startup? The talking ones Bomb Squad and B17 would be cool to have their announcements at the first still.

jeremysart
YEESSS!!! It really is about time. Now I can say honestly, I love my DS more than the PSP. All of my emulators work better on the DS than the PSP, and now i'll be able to play Intv games too? Glory! I really hope they have more than one. I would love to have Tower of Doom and Thunder Castle on this!
Smatchmo
Awesome, and I gave my beloved DS to my (also beloved) niece a few day ago for her b-day. Ah well.... It's not like DSs are gonna disappear anytime soon. I was planning on getting another DS eventually, maybe in a year or so, buuuuuut those plans might change with this news. carmel_andrews
Well this is interesting and good news, as the story that I heard was that if any 'official' nintendo approved publisher as much as touched this program they would be dropped as official publishers...so Either there has been a sea change at nintendo (in respect of allowing an official publisher to publish this program) or the publisher concerned is not an approved publisher And i doubt very much that there has been a sea change at nintendo regarding anything to do with 'emulation'
Atariboy
Nintendo has no issues with emulation, there are plenty of GameCube, Nintendo Wii, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS releases that rely on it. Not to mention the entire Virtual Console Wii Shop channel that contains nothing but hundreds of emulated classic games. Nintendo's prohibition just concerned emulation in DSiWare releases (Digital downloads), with people speculating that Nintendo's policy is perhaps a result of plans that might entail a Virtual Console like service eventually appearing to compliment the WiiWare clone already present on the DSi. Intellivision Productions (I believe that's their name) discovered this when they attempted to self publish it on DSiWare after years of failing to find a publisher for a retail release. So they've apparantly secured a publishing agreement with a firm that will release this at retail, where no such emulation prohibition exist.
