carmel_andrews
More information and tickets are available at the RV website: http://www.retrovision.org.uk Well your getting closer to the big smoke, and at least it's cheaper then treking up north I might give it a whirl and see what gives (i guess no-one likes holding retro expo's in the big smoke then)
StarshipUK
Well your getting closer to the big smoke, and at least it's cheaper then treking up north I might give it a whirl and see what gives (i guess no-one likes holding retro expo's in the big smoke then) The problem with London is it is too expensive to hire a venue. Oxford also has excellent transport links with London including Train and several cheap coach/bus companies. Although I am thinking of doing an event in Chelmsford, Essex in April 2011 if there is enough interest.

Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London WC1 (nearest tube: Holborn) tel 020 7242 8032 fax 020 7242 8036 let me know how it goes Thank you for the info. That is very central, but perhaps too central. While it is useful for those who live in Central London, it may cause a problem for those who travel from up north and outside London (Expensive Hotels, Parking etc...) I think the UK CGE events were both held in Croydon, and that is as Central as these events has got. Also it does not look like they have a Bar, where drinking has become pretty much a essential at most of these events. I am thinking of holding an event in/near Chelmsford in 2011. Chelmsford is about 30 mins by train from Liverpool Street Station in London. Of course whether I go ahead with this depends on how much support I get for RV2010 and how many people attend RV2010 in Oxford, and if I can form a reliable team together to help prepare and run the event. Its also near where I live which makes things much much easier!

Luton is easy to get to from anywhere as it on the M1, has 3 train stations (only takes 25 minutes to get there from London) and an international airport. It also has good bars/restaurants which are very important for the first night as many a JFUK attendee knows Judging by the turnout this year I definately made the right choice and its very likely I will use the same venue next year! Time to start planning soon I guess . . . .

Paul Drury (Retrogamer Magazine) Just a quick message to wish everyone a good new year and to update you on the latest RV2010 News. With just over a month to go, a big thank you to those who have bought tickets so far. There are still tickets available for those who have not bought one yet. SYSTEMS NEWS: This year will have a fantastic selection of systems and games. Systems that will be present include: Commodore 64 Commodore VIC20 Atari 2600 Playstation 2 XBOX 360 Dreamcast BBC B Micro Vectrex PCs running MAME and Homebrew And much more... If you are planning on bringing a system or a TV/Monitor along I will be contacting everyone to confirm what they will be bringing along in the next few days. If you are planning on bringing something along and have not contacted me, please can you let me know what you are bringing and what days you are attending. FREEBIE BAG NEWS: Everyone who attends RV will get fantastic blue bag of goodies. This includes an ID lanyard to wear at the event, a PC DVD which contains games, photos and music and a Retrovision keyring, as well as a few other surprise items. CURRY NEWS: We will now be going to the curry house on Saturday evening. We now need to get an idea of the amount of people who would like to attend this so we can book the restaurant. This is not included in the RV2010 ticket price and we will split the costs between everyone at the end of the meal. We estimate leaving for the restaurant at around 7PM and returning to the pub at around 8:30PM to 9:00PM. Upon our return we will then hold the amazing RV2010 raffle and then set up the evening Rock Band. If you would like to attend this please reply to this E-Mail. RAFFLE NEWS: Your host Vintage Matt will be selling tickets throughout Friday and Saturday until the raffle starts, or ask any of the RV Team if you would like to purchase raffle tickets. Prizes will be on display at the event and include retro gaming systems and the star prize is a fantastic brand new boxed Dingoo A320! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingoo) COMPETITION NEWS: We will be holding a competition for Janey Thomsons Marathon throughout the whole weekend. If you went to Retro Reunited you will remember this fantastic game and there will be a special small prize as well as a trophy for the winner of the competition. Times and further details of the other gaming competitions taking place will be detailed in the next E-Mail, which will be sent 1 week before RV2010. NINTENDO DS NEWS: We are planning on running a Tetris DS competition using the Nintendo DS. We currently have four Nintendo DS handhelds that will be there, but the game supports up to 7 players, using 8 handhelds with one NDS hosting the game (with only one game cartridge). If you have a Nintendo DS, please bring it along on Saturday fully charged, and your mains charger. As well as this I am sure we will also be playing some other multiplayer games during RV using the NDS. COSPLAY NEWS: As a bit of fun, some people who attend RV like to dress up. In the past we have had Phoenix Wright, Dr. Horrible, Beerman, The Space Giraffe, Sonic the Hedgehog and of course Markie Ming! This is not compulsory, but just a a bit of of fun and everyone is welcome to wear cosplay on the Saturday afternoon and evening. There are some great cosplay costumes on EBay for those who do not have one :-) CAR SHARING NEWS: At the moment there are people coming from all over England and Scotland to RV2010. For those who watched the recent Top Gear series will know that Oxford is car unfriendly, and while the pub has a small car park (where priority for parking will be given to those who are providing equipment), the roads surrounding the pub have restricted parking. There is a Park and Ride at the other end of Abingdon Road (not within walking distance of the pub) and there are some residential roads without restricted parking that are a 5 to 10 min walk away (but can getted filled by the residents). If you have an empty seat in your car and would be willing to car share (or would like a car share), please let me know where you will be driving from, and what day you will be driving down and driving back and I will see if I can put some retro gamers in contact with each other. AND FINALLY: To all those who have bought a ticket, we will be sending another E-Mail out the week before the event. At this time, we still have tickets available, so please spread the word about RV2010 and let your friends know what a great event this will be :-) Thanks, The RV2010 Team. Some people bought along a few small items such as PC Memory, Motherboards, Video DVDs, Music CDs and there was even a Phillips CDI Player and a few old XBox 360 games! Due to the popularity last year, we have decided to try this again this year. The only thing that we ask is that you do not bring to much crap along (small crap items are preferred), and only bring crap along which would benefit other people (Not broken non working crap!). Anything left over will either be donated to a charity shop, placed on freecycle or recycled, or you are free to take your unwanted crap back home with you! There will also be a money pot somewhere near the table of crap, and you are welcome to make a donation if you take something useful from the table. All moneys raised from the Table of Crap will be kept separate from the RV funds and will be donated to Cancer Research in memory of Richard Joseph via the website at http://www.justgiving.com/jonhare/ Thanks, The RV2010 Team. retrozoneorg
Hello Everyone! As this was my first Retro Gaming event I decided to commemorate it with a youtube video: I have purposefully hidden peoples faces so as not to upset anyone who did not want to be on youtube. Enjoy the memories!
