SuperTimor
Hello there! I have a question about the Odyssey 2 I own a US Odyssey 2 and I would be interesed to buy and play some game that were never made for the US Market (European Videopac). However, ive heard that some game do not work with the US Odyssey 2. I know that Popeye Super Cobra Q*Bert Work with an US System , but is there a list for all compatible and not compatible Videopac game on a US system? Thanks in advance
Shawn
From my experience all the brazilian versions of the O2 games not released in the USA work fine on the USA O2. Frogger & Super Cobra are 2 of my favorites on the O2.
+thegoldenband
The info page for the O2 233-in-1 multicart has some information that may be helpful. I haven't yet made a list of which games are currently PAL- or Plus-only. If you do, I'd love to see it.
Bruce Tomlin
I seem to recall that the main difference in G7400 games was that they added a background graphics layer. So the games would play on a regular O^2, but without the nice background graphics.
Tempest
Oh wow the Multicart has been massively updated (I have the old 128 one). I may have to get a new one. Tempest
+thegoldenband
I seem to recall that the main difference in G7400 games was that they added a background graphics layer. So the games would play on a regular O^2, but without the nice background graphics. That's my understanding too, though I think there are a handful of games that require the G7400 stuff, and won't run (or aren't playable?) on a standard O^2. Perhaps someone who knows the library better than I do could confirm; I ran across a website recently that had more details, but can't seem to find the right link... EDIT: Ah, here's the site, and Helicopter Rescue is one of at least two games (along with North American Rally) that "run only on the G7400 or the Jopac machines. as they use high resolution graphics not only as background, but also for the playing objects." Tempest
Yeah there are 3 or 4 games that actually use the G7400 to do more than provide a pretty background. They actually use its graphics capabilities for foreground graphics as well. Norseman, Trans-American Rally, and that Helicopter game come to mind. I think there's one more as well that I'm missing. Seob
Backgammon won't work with the O2 also. Edited December 15, 2009 by Seob
Tempest
Backgammon won't work with the O2 also. Yeah I read that somewhere, I wonder why? It's not like it pushes the O2 to its limits or anything like that. Tempest

Seob
Backgammon, because timing in backgammon is very critical because of mid screen VDC updates.
