danwinslow
This is an unfair comparison. The post-it has way more storage capacity. moycon
Funnily enough there are some hires games for the ZX81 ( via some awesome software hacks ) - Wow that is sweet!!!!! +remowilliams
Since everyone clearly knows by now that the true worth of any computing platform can be measured by how fast it reads obsolete game controller ports, this is a truly difficult choice... 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914116 Share on other sites
carmel_andrews
you can't make a paper aeroplane out of the sinclair machine And a pack of post it notes makes it the lightest ' computer' in the world 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914170 Share on other sites
The_Laird
The_Laird, you got some 'splaining to do. Not really the ZX81 is a computer, the post it notes are not. The ZX81 can play Frogger, Defender, Scramble, 3D Monster Maze and Space Invaders Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914191 Share on other sites

The ZX81 can play Frogger, Defender, Scramble, 3D Monster Maze and Space Invaders Well, What I meant by explain is that you had voted, but had not said why. I contend that the Post-It is a more versatile and powerful computing device than the ZX81 in any case. But, that's not really the joke or point here anyway, so it's okay that you missed that Thanks for voting. GroovyBee
You can write any game or application you like in any language you like on post-it notes. On the ZX81 you are limited to BASIC and Z80 assembler. The ZX81 does have a small advantage in that it can run the 2 languages it supports natively. However, I still give Post-It notes the edge for their flexibility. Mirage
Post-It Notes have also been in production for far longer... 1979-2010... 31 years. The Sinclair didn't last nearly that long. So, total userbase, installed base, units sold... 3M blows away Sinclair in all regards. Plus, new user training for 3M platform is far simpler. I think I've had enough convincing now to put in my vote! 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914263 Share on other sites
BigO
Without the added pen input device, only rudimentary calculations are possible for me when using the Post-It. With the proper version of a pen input type device, NVRAM capability can be achieved with the Post-It, otherwise you're kinda stuck with a WORM storage device. Mirage
Sorry, I should have said that any choice of single or multiple pen (or similar) input peripherals are allowed for the 3M device since that is the only reasonable method of data entry. The Sinclair has the "keyboard" built-in. thebiggw
My guess is that the sinclair would be best used if it was converted into a post-it note dispenser!!! 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914268 Share on other sites

moycon
The Sinclair has the "keyboard" built-in. The 3M doesn't have a built in data entry device? What is a person supposed to do, run out and spend more hard earned cash to use the damn thing out of the package? FAIL. Sinclair for the win. Too bad some just cannot see the light. I would go on and on for 30 to 40 pages trying to pummel you into submission and asking you why you don't know how to read, but I just don't have it in me 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914286 Share on other sites

moycon
Yes, but it's in the rules that a pen is assumed Goto post #42 (Reminds me of that old program) 10 print "hello" 20 goto 10 Actually I dont even have a TS1k anymore. I did at one time though. We got it free for looking at a time share in the 80's!!! (No lie) It was pretty worthless from what I recall. moycon
Yes. After seeing what other have done with the TS1K (Some kick ass games are shown on YouTube I was really quite surprised, I may have to pick up a TS1K again just for shits and grins) and what others have done with the M3 (Barely legible, often misspelled notation like "This is your sammich") I'll still stick with the TS1K Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/155989-timex-sinclair-1000zx-81-vs-3m-post-it-note/page/2/#findComment-1914332 Share on other sites
