long live intellivision!

It is too bad the Intellivision scene does not have more homebrew games (or at least affordable ones) I think I would be much more in to the Intellivision if it did

I think the biggest factors against the Intellivision from a homebrew standpoint are: the novelty of the hardware, and the lack of an easy way to test code on the real console. The General Instruments CP1610 is a very offbeat processor, not nearly as familiar as the 6502. There aren't very many assemblers, disassemblers, or cross-compilers which support it, although the SDK-1600 kit looks like a good set of tools. The original tools that APh and Mattel used were mainframe-based, although there were PC-based tools and ROM emulators used during the Intv era. The Intellicart/CC3 are one way around the problem of testing on real hardware, but not too many people have them.

I never had an Intellivision until long after the system was dead, but I've gotten to like it a lot. It's a very interesting machine, very different from the Atari systems and with a distinctive library of software. I'd love to see more games made for it.

I wonder if this forum has helped to bring in new people to the intv scene?

I collected for a year or so without an online community. One day, in order to answer some of my variation/collecting questions, I looked online and found this forum. Member since 2012 :) I actually just had my 2 year anniversary this month :)

I did a quick search and found well over 1,000 threads with "Intellivision", "INTV", "Intelly" and "Inty" in the thread title. There are surely more that do not have those words in the title but are still Intellivision related. I've already moved a whole slew of threads from the last two years into this forum.

Enjoy!

Thank you for creating this sub-forum! But was it really necessary to forever link the Intellivision name with the Aquarius? Ouch.

[The Aquarius is as related to Intellivision as He-man is to Barbie. Less, actually, because Mattel had little to do with the design of the Aquarius. The Aquarius would have been a Marvelous Toy for playing around with BASIC in 1975, when it would have crushed the Altair 8800, but in 1983 it was toast on arrival.]
