thegamezmaster
sorry of this been answered bus just got what is supposed to be a refurbished 40g ps3. On system settings it says 42g if 75g available. Does this mean it's got an 80g hdd instead of a 40g? If so beside the obvious, any advantages? Thanks from a ps3 nubie. KrazyKaiju
Most likely you've got a 80GB with the previous users files still on it. When I was looking for a PS3, the guy at EB Games talked me out of a used one when he said they only do a power on check before throwing these things in a box. Try the 'Restore PS3' option (full format) under Settings in the XMB and see if more space becomes available afterward. If your PS3 is 80GB but has 2 USB ports, it'll be functionally identical to the 40GB. But if it has 4 USB ports you got lucky and received a 1st gen 80GB with limited backward compatibility with PS2 games. I suppose it's also possible you might have also gotten a 60GB (with full BC) by accident, in which case you're a really lucky bastard and I don't want to talk to you anymore.
