SoundGammon
Now that 3D is all the buzz at CES, I think it's time to start thinking about 3d games. My list, off the top of my head: TEMPEST GRAN TURISMO HOUSE OF THE DEAD
DaytonaUSA
Oooooh you mean 3D as in the glasses. I was like... there are a LOT of 3D games haha I really want to play WipEout in 3D. I know it was demoed to the press, and I think it would be a great example of what the PS3 could do with the tech. A brawler with things flying all around, like Batman, would be another fun one. Also, I think they could really do a good job with the new Eye Toy Pet game that's coming out with the monkey thingy. If it came out of the TV, it would be a little more believable, ya know? Lord Helmet
Anything that makes the games more immersive I'm all for...as long as it isn't gimmicky (see 75% of the Wii catalog). After seeing Avatar I'm beginning to see the potential for 3d if it's done right.

Reaperman
well as much as I'd love to see a 3d colony wars or a 3d gran turismo, I think 3d will be used for what it's always used for. meaning I think we'll see an update of this
Austin
Cues should probably be taken from the Virtual Boy, honestly. Third/first-person flying (via Red Alarm) was an excellent experience, first-person boxing or fighting (via Teleroboxer) was intense, and simple sports games (ala Mario Tennis) worked out very well. atarian63
I have a 3d ready tv, has the 3d sync for glasses. Wonder whats out there or could be for ps3. Sounds great to me!
Atarifever
I hope it bombs so miserably that it sinks any company that is attached to it. In fact, I hope there is something about it that causes cancer in people who develop for it. Why? I have only one fully working eye, and I am colour blind. That makes 3D glasses a double impossible for my brain to use. 3D movies to me can never be anything other than normal movies with ugly lines through them. I've made peace with losing the ability to ever enjoy movies again. If they take games from me too, I will not be pleased. I hope your 3D TVs all blow up. I hope everyone blows up in their 2 pedaled car because I only have one leg and have to use those gay triggers on the steering wheel and I hate it and God hates me and life is unfair and everyone should suffer for my pain!!!! That's about as retarded as you sounded. Bottom line, there will always be an option for non-3D mode, so you shouldn't really be complaining. You're actually a million monkeys banging on a million keyboards and you just all vote to submit the closest thing to language that results, right? Talk about tin ears. That sentence is so clunky it hurt my ancestors' eardrums. It's good to know that you have the inside information from the future and know that there will always be a non 3D option. It will be especially useful in games where 3D is required as part of the gameplay. And what's wrong with complaining that because of a physical problem I cannot help I may lose the ability to enjoy my favorite hobby, as I am right now losing the ability to enjoy my second favorite hobby? Sorry if I am not happy about it. I will try, in future, to consider what makes you happiest and ignore myself. After all, what is more important than the happiness of some guy I don't know and don't care about in any way, whatsoever? For my part, I don't care if you suffer. Let's face it, if you died tommorrow, I likely wouldn't notice you missing from the boards. Even if someone I did notice missing from here died, I'd just think they stopped posting. So I couldn't care less how much you do or do not suffer. I kind of hope your 3D games, consoles, or TVs blowing up causes you some misery so that you will not buy another. I am sorry if that idea offends you, but I place me well above you on my priority list. Edited January 22, 2010 by Atarifever
Reaperman
shutter glasses have come and gone before with limited impact, and I'm guessing it'll happen that way again. But what I'm really interested in seeing is the '3d' which tracks something (like your nose) around, and adjusts the tv image accordingly. ( , ) This would require nothing but software and an inexpensive camera--giving it a much larger market since it would work with inexpensive tv's, and not require those stupid shutter glasses to be worn to view the effects. (granted we might have to strap a glowing ball to our heads or something, and we'd have to move around to get the effect) Gran Turismo 5 has been listing 'head tracking' as a feature for a number of months now (unlike 3d tv support which isn't mentioned), and I'm wondering if position tracking part of what they mean, or if it's simply going to tilt the camera instead of providing a more mobile perspective. Either way it should help out a lot with sense of speed, and should boost the average driver's skillset, by not making every corner a blind one. Of course Gran Turismo 5 is due out a few months after Duke Nukem Forever, so it doesn't matter too much. ( , ) I love that technology. It works for me, as it doesn't use binocular perception for its effect. I imagine it's ages away yet though. Still, I crossed my fingers that the Virtual Boy would fail for the same reason I am hoping current 3D plans fail. Crossing my fingers seemed to work wonders against the Virtual Boy, so hopefully a similar fate awaits the current 3D, then we can move on to head tracking. Secondly, you are a very sad individual. To wish u death and pain because of your inability to view this technology is low. I honestly pity you. Lastly, if that was a joke, no one is laughing. I have things wrong with my body, but I never wish pain on others because their bodies are more normal than mine. I have things wrong with my body, but I never wish pain on others because their bodies are more normal than mine. A few things. 1) I didn't anywhere wish you death and pain. I wished your TV would explode, not that you would explode. If it is a terrible, unbearable pain to you to not get 3D gaming that uses 3D glasses specifically, I shudder to think how miserable your life has been until this exact point in time when it has finally become reality. 2) Again, I simply don't care about what you can or can't see, only what I cannot see. Imagine they made a new technology tomorrow that made games and movies nearly unplayable, shut down movie theatres in your town, and gave absolutely nothing back to you. However, to 90 percent of everyone else it made things a little bit better to watch. Would you be terribly excited? You wouldn't particularly hold it against the people who could see it, but you'd certainly hope it didn't catch on. I don't know you enough to care if your game experience and movie experience is very marginally better or not. I do care if mine is entirely ruined. 3) You is a word. DaytonaUSA
1 + 2 I'm done with. @ #3: Yes I know you is a word. I think I did pretty dang well typing that response on a cell phone. By the time we got home, the edit option was gone. I think you can look at any of my existing posts and see that my grammar and spelling is always on the mark. rpgfaker
Atarifever hijacked the thread...TERROR ALERT!!!!!!RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! IT'S THE CANADIENS! 3D games topic? I'd like to see the games Dead Space, TESIV:Oblivion, and the not yet released The Last Guardian done in 3D. It would also be nice to see some PS3 minis done with 3D support.
