And much to my incredible surprise, besides having an amazing picture w/LED full panel lighting - the damn thing actually displays 50/60Hz 15Khz RGB video!! I couldn't believe it - I had just hooked the ST up as a lark, because just about everything has failed this test over the years. And yes, it's not cheap being a top of the line LCD HDTV. I purchased it for HD current gen gaming, but was blown away that it can actually handle the low rate RGB. Now all I need to do is build a SCART > VGA adapter and I can connect all the SCART RBG capable consoles too. Woot! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Did you build a cable from the RGB monitor port to the VGA port? (ie connect red to red, green to green, horizontal sync to horizontal sync, etc) I don't understand the SCART-VGA cable you are planning to build. Where does that fall in this maze of adapters? (ie connect red to red, green to green, horizontal sync to horizontal sync, etc) Yes, I already had an ST DIN > female HD15 VGA adapter built for previous use. It is R/G/B H/V sync straight through from one end to the other. I used a 1040STf to test. I'll have to try other STs later. One other neat thing, I could do Falcon RGB/VGA on the same display now with this LCD. The SCART-VGA cable should be the same straight through signal principle, as SCART RGB is 15Khz as well. I may have to mess around with the sync on the ST/MSTEs in that area though. But for other systems (Genesis/Saturn/Dreamcast, etc) that I have SCART RGB cables for it should be easy. Can't wait to see them on the TV in all that RGB glory! Worth noting - the manual for the TV does not mention anything other than (S)VGA/(W/S/U)XGA signals as compatible, yet the old low rate RGB obviously does work. SCART does transmit interlaced video as well, so if the VGA input for the TV isn't equipped to handel that (ie no deinterlacing for it) that wouldn't work, or may not work properly. Still this is great, and havign a lack of deinterlacing is a better tradeoff than deinterlacing for everything. (ie deinterlacing a progressive signal -albeit some HD sets can discriminate between 240p and 480i aparently) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So either I do a sync strainer to get H/V out of it or I just hook them up to the component inputs (the Aquos has a terrific input selection) which looks beautiful.
