I try and make the argument that the Dreamcast was the last of it's kind, and may be the last console to be considered "classic". While that may be slightly hyperbolic, I don't think that the current crop of consoles will have as much of a following among classic gamers of the future.

Nintendo packaged their NES and SNES games with dust sleeves and their Game Boy games with clamshell cases while Atari 2600 and 7800 games had built-in spring-loaded dust covers, which caused most people to simply throw away the original boxes.

Enjoying the articles good job just a couple of notes from above 7800 carts do not have the dust covers on them and neither do most red label and some later re-releases on the 2600

After taking a break to watch the winter Olympics, I've updated the site with a brand new article. It's a collection of reviews of classic winter Olympic games such as the VCS' "Winter Games" and the Saturn's "Winter Heat". It's the first link on the front page:

http://www.cgquarterly.com/index.htm

As always, feedback is welcomed. If you disagree with any of my reviews, please take advantage of the "Contact Us" link at the top of every page. If I get some e-mails, I'm going to start a "Mailbag" section.

This is an article that I have been meaning to write since I started this whole thing. It describes what I consider to be the best way to clean cartridge games, and goes along with the article that I already wrote about cleaning the 72-pin connector on a NES.

If anyone has a problem with the images on that article displaying properly, please let me know. Something is acting weird on my end.

Thanks for reading,

Chris

Thanks. It was hard to be objective because it's one of my favorite games, but I definitely think that this is one of the Genesis' overlooked gems. I had it as a teenager so there's some strong nostalgia there. Never actually beat it until just recently, though.

I added an RSS feed to the site today. Please let me know if it doesn't work properly. I don't use RSS feeds myself so I am not an expert on the subject.

The link is on the front page under the Google search bar, or you can just access it directly here:

Thanks for reading,

Added an article to the Do-it-Yourself Gamer section detailing the procedure for making your own TurboGrafx-16 stereo composite AV cable.

A TurboGrafx-16 reviews section with reviews of Splatterhouse, Ninja Spirit, Galaga '90, and Keith Courage is forthcoming.
