Wierd Intv quirk

Here's something odd. I just got a regular Intv1 console and while testing it, I noticed a big difference in the sound volume depending on which controller is used. The right side controller gives the best volume and clarity. The clarity is almost as good when using the left but volume is almost a third lower. The system had a loose RF jack so I opened it up to fix it.(major PITA) Inside, I found that two different controllers were used. Possible previous repair. The "louder" control has the familiar green plug while the "quieter" one has a beige plug.
