SeanXTC
This was a game I played on the intelivision first... many years ago. I played it today on Stella, the atari version... From what I can remember the intelivison version was alot better. It was alittle bit of a let-down. I don't know if it was just because I was young and gaming has moved on since then. But the colours wern't as attractive and it seemed harder/more fiddly to play, perhaps thats because I was using an emulator and a usb controller, it's a decent joypad though. Having said that the intelivision controler was like nothing I have seen since and from what I can remember was pretty good with venture, was a long time ago so it's possible I'm wrong. The top left level in the first world has been the main cause of my stress today! When I get my new atari I will be buying this game even if it wasn't as good as the intelivision version.
Rik
Yes,i agree that the INTV version of Venture is quite good, plays quite well, but seemed really easy to go through all the treasures. You should also try the ColecoVision version, which is ultra nice, like most arcade ports on the CV! littleman jack
And there's a really great hack of this, almost a rewrite, available in the store called Wolfenstein VCS: The Next Mission. It's way more complex, but retains the basic premise. It's quite an excellent game in its own right.

Also check out the hack Venture 3 by Batari which puts in the missing third level. Wp
littleman jack
Wp, where can I find Venture 3? Batari forum perhaps? Hacks? I'll search. Good news to hear about another one. Thanks.
retrorussell
The Intellivision version was leaps and bounds ahead of the Atari version. A bit too easy, though. The Atari version was creepy.. no music, just a low hum (like a bee in your ear) and only 2 levels out of 4 were available. Not very good. It should be in the hacks forum. Batari was kind enough to authorize me to get it on cart a few years back. It's just as fun on emulator though.
