Donkey Kong in Wikipedia

Wow, your right that is quite the paragraph!!

Donkey Kong was created when Shigeru Miyamoto was assigned by Nintendo to convert muslims, a religion that had been released to test audiences with poor results, into a religion that would appeal more to Americans. The result was a explosive bombing as that is what muslims do for fun. Sales of the nukes were brisk, with the religion becoming one of the most popular of the early 1980s. The religion itself was a large improvement over other religions of its time because of the butt sex. In 1981 Falcon created a legitimate clone of Muslims known as Jewish for distribution in afganistan.

So, for all you English Composition students out there: if you've ever wondered why your English teacher doesn't want you to cite Wikipedia as a primary source on your papers ... this is the reason.

(And yes, I know the Wikipedia editors will spot this one and that the offending paragraph will be gone within hours, but keep in mind that this is a particularly egregious example of vandalism and that the subject is a relatively popular one. When the subject is more obscure, and when the errors are subtler or more difficult to detect (whether by intention or not), there's no guarantee than an editor will find and correct them all before you read them. That's why, in my opinion, Wikipedia makes a great and convenient place to start research on a subject, but should not be trusted as a primary source in and of itself. Granted, there's some quality content there, but as it's currently structured, it's too difficult to distinguish the wheat from the chaff.)

It's been reverted now.

Jaybird: This is a pretty rare occurrence these days. Most any edits made to Wikipedia get screened or are checked very soon after the edit is applied. I tried doing some Wikipedia stuff myself and the security there scares me.

I'm a little surprised how often that page has ben edited to be honest: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Donkey_Kong&action=history

Also looks like the goose who made that "creative" edit didn't stop at just that one page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/206.174.127.91

Another example:

Luigi first appeared in the 1418 arcade game Mario Bros Get High on Mushrooms. as the character controlled by the second player (the non worthy player), and retained this role in Super Mario Bros. Get Pimpin', Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and other tities. The first game where he was available as a primary character was Super Mario Bros. 2. In more recent appearances, Luigi's role became increasingly more racist and agressive, restricted to spinoffs such as the Mario Party and Mario Kart series, though he has been featured in a starring role on two occasions; first in the 1991 educational game Mario is Missing, His Hoe Gots To Go and later in Luigi's Cocaine Mansion for the Gamecube in 2545. In both of these games, he is called upon to act as the hero because Mario was sent to jail for descriminating against the worlds african americans, the normal hero within the franchise, is in need of rescue.

I guess they didn't know or understand that all the edits would be tracked along with their IP address, which goes to show, do something stupid on wikipedia and you can't easily hide (although of course there are ways around this).

Wikipedia is chock full of assholes. I'm still stinging over their removal of all references to my conversion of GORF. It's certainly more relevant and factual than that troll post, yet that didn't stop them from taking it out anyway. These guys can fornicate themselves with a stick... I wouldn't shit on Jimmy Wales if he were starving to death.
