Video
Well, I was watching Alf, I mean, some ultra violent movie with lots of blood and guts flinging, and the XBox screen got weird. It dropped to like a 256 color mode or some shit, and had a bunch of green text floating around the screen, especially on the edges of characters and in shaddows. It totally reminded me of that movie Matrix. But anyhow, I thought it was something to do with the DVD, so I hit previous. And...no dice, the movie was still doing it, so it was the systems fault. I turn the system off and back on and get the E74. NOOOOooooo.....well, considering it's almost 3 years old, if it's going to happen, that's the time. But, I got the one lower right quadrant version of the ring. Yep, only a one year cover on that. So...it's not covered under the red ring warranty thing. I went to dig out the recipt, and found it and had totally forgotten that I actually got the 2 year extended service plan when I bought the thing (and also only paid $350 for it, I thought it was $400 at the time) Anyhow, so Now I get to call them up and see what that actually does. Maybe I can get a new one, or get it fixed for less than the $100 Microsoft will probably charge (I can get a new core for $150 at walmart, so fuck that for a repair price)Hopefully I can get it fixed free, or reduced, or replace, that would be cool. But I'm thining about getting a new one anyways, so maybe that will be the best option. In the mean time, I guess I'll play some PS2 stuff, the horror, the horror, gouge my eyes out please. I had forgotten just how horrible the graphics are on that system. I got a wii, but screw that, I'm to lazy. Anyhow, Maybe I said I would like one of the slimlines to close to my xbox and it died broken hearted. Anyhow. This is the only thing i'vve ever gotten a service plan on, and it's just because of it's notoriousness so I guess I'll get to see how that goes. Stay tuned. Nesbroslash
I hate to mock spelling errors, but it isn't very "fine" when you get the red ring. But in all seriousness, that really sucks. I think the Wii is much more reliable than the 360. Case in point: Mine only failed once, on a disc drive error, and our 2 360s both crashed, #1 having crashed twice. Plus Nintendo's repair service is quick and reliable.

4Ks
Thsi shouldn't come as a suprise at all. Xbox 360 is literally the most unreliable system ever (53% of all 360s have failed).
keilbaca
If you're willing to get rid of it for cheap, if you're not going to get it repaired, let me know. I've been trying to come up with new ways to fix the xbox, and so far, the bracket I made that goes underneath the 360 motherboard works wonders. I have had a couple that have not made it out of the 0102, and I'm looking for a donor to try extensive... trying to get it to come back to life. ^_^

The one flashing light means error+there will be some text on screen. 2 lights mean overheating, 3 lights means error+there likely won't be some text on screen, and a full red ring means your AV pack is unplugged. +moycon
Maybe I can call them, but the only two times I called before, I got hooked to some japanese dude that barely knew english and was little or no help at all. You can and it's free.I've called them at least a dozen times in the past for various reasons and have yet to run into this issue you mention(Altho I admit I once did get some Indian sounding dude I couldn't understand very well, still...he was able to help me) If you want I can call them for you since your luck is obviously terrible. You could get this fixed if you put your mind to it...and most importantly, be polite. People who are more than capable of helping folk, suddenly become next to useless if you don't talk to them with at least a little respect. Might explain your "luck"? Video
Well, if they'll fix it for the 374 and not worry about the one light, then I'll get if fixed (or replaced, or whatever they do to it) then it's up to them to give it a proper burial If not, I'll probably donate it to Keilbaca's "save the Xboxes from the RROD" foundation I hate to mock spelling errors, but it isn't very "fine" when you get the red ring. Ooops, I meant, it died at last. Not that I wanted it to, just expected it to
Tr3vor
The wii is very reliable, the only one that had to be replaced was my grandma's, some games took forever to load, so it was a disc drive problem. I have friends who have very bad experiences with the xbox 360. One had 3 xbox's fail on him. the other had 2 fail. They will probably end up failing again. Thats why I perswaded (<spelling police, do not attack! I dont know how to spell that one) my other friends to get PS3's instead.

Video
Well, their supposed to send me a shipping label in a week or two, and i can ship the poor bastid off. Wonderif I'll get it back, or just a new one (or different refurb?) And it only cost $999.95 to get fixed (kidding) Actually got a person this time though, that was cool. I asked the dude if I got a new system how I could get my stuff to the new system since it didn't run HDD's and Memory cards. There's supposed to be some wire thing I can get to hook it up and the new Xbox will just see it as a second drive. Now I should have asked, can I leave it hooked up and use it as an extra drive? That would be cool...I guess. But what about my memory cards? I got stuff on there that I can't transfer, and I have no means to access live so I can't just copy my profile (why the hell can't I just copy it like any save file?) Anyhow, I'll have to deal with that later...I figure it would have been easier just to hook the consoles together with a network cable and copy crap that way. Anyhow, that dude said I could use a flash drive, but I tried that when I first heard of it (and also when I first got the system) and know this is NOT the case. Maybe with newer systems, but not with mine. Oh well, there's not that many saves I guess I'm truly interested in keeping really, but gaming at friends houses will be a pain in the ass if I can't take my memory card with me. Video
My profile, I specifically put it on a card so that I could easily take it to friends houses and play on their xboxes, but when i tried to copy it to the HDD, it just said it couldn't copy that type of file or some such. Most of the games aren't really an issue, some stuff like Oblivion would be fun to completely restart IMO, I can copy that with the patch cable if I bother getting one though. Atariboy
You can't copy your profile because you'd multiple instances of it and that's against Xbox Live's terms of use. You should be able to transfer it though. I never had an issue when I moved mine a while back off my hard drive to a memory card so I could use it easily on multiple consoles. Yes I agree I've always been able to transfer profiles between memory cards and HDD. You just can't have it on both. You'd want to chose "Move" not "Copy" Not sure I'm following exactly what you are trying to do or why.It sounds like you are trying to move your profile off a memory card onto an HDD I think I got that. Are you also trying to copy game saves off the same memory card onto an HDD? That should work fine as well as long as you are logged in with the profile tied to the saves. What is the benefit or reason for not using the memory card anymore?
Video
No I wanted to copy it. I was thinking of getting the new Xbox, but as it won't support memory cards (I think) I won't be able to just put that in and play my profile from the card. But I would still go to friends houses and such, so I need a way to keep it portable. Why would having multiple profiles be against microsofts live's terms (or even relevant) I don't have Live anyways, and likely never will, well, at least at this point in he 360's life anyways. +moycon
Why would having multiple profiles be against microsofts live's terms (or even relevant) I don't have Live anyways, and likely never will, well, at least at this point in he 360's life anyways. Can't be done. If you chose "Copy" then mystery solved. One reason I can think of why you couldn't have the profile on more than one system is that the achievements you unlock are actually added to your profile data, so if you had the profile on more than one system at any time, your profile wouldn't be up to date. Not sure about the new slim 360 and if they have slots for the old memory cards. My advice is to just buy a cheap 4 or 8GB USB memory stick and use that or if you already have one all the better. Move the profile to that
Video
Yeah, I thought about the memory stick, but it's not compatible, or not with my system. Of course, from the sound of it (from what I've heard) apparently, I"m as or more likely to receive a new system as opposed to the one I sent in anyways, maybe I'll have an update. Short of that, is there any game that has the "read memory stick" patch on them? Like I said, I don't have live, but I"m a crack addict to new games, keep getting them, even though I don't want them and can't use them and sure as heck can't play them but anyhow, maybe something I already have but haven't played has the patch. keilbaca
Glad to hear that you're able to get it under warranty ^_^ The only way to copy it, is illegal under microsoft's terms. It consists of a tool called Xplorer360, and it requires you to open up your HDD casing. From there you have access to the drive, and everything in it. Including, copying your profile to the hard drive of your comp, then you can take a formatted usb and copy it back over. Its not worth the hastle though. HammR25
The ethernet port on the arcade I bought last December decided to die. When the chick started telling me about sending one in I told her I still had the coffin from the last time so boxing it up should be easy. At least I have a refurbished one sitting around as a backup. I can use it for the next couple of weeks.
