CGQuarterly
This would be cool. I have a chipped Saturn so it doesn't do anything for me, but it would be nice to see Saturn games get a second chance at life as downloadable games. Atariboy
"Sega recently announced it would be bringing between 18-24 Dreamcast titles to Xbox Live Arcade" When was this? That's the first I've ever seen a number attached to this program. Sounds a lot more ambitious then I'm inclined to believe, did Sega actually ever say 18-24 titles? Does Sega actually have 18-24 worthwhile titles for the DC that weren't already ported to every other system under the sun? The top games for me would have been like Sonic Adventure and Crazy taxi's but I've already got Xbox versions of those

Short answer: more than you can imagine. PS: about time on these Saturn games. My favorite console FINALLY gets some love from Sega
Austin
I read on the magic-box that Sega is going to focus on DC games first because it was more successful than the Saturn outside of Japan. If we see any Saturn titles, it probably won't be anytime soon.
Atariboy
I don't think Sega is going to be paying to do this with 3rd party titles, so it doesn't seem like a stupid question to me. It's exactly why I raised doubt amount the numbers listed in that article in the first place. After removing titles that relied on special controllers (lightgun games, Samba de Amigo, etc.), sports games (They're not going to waste time porting 10 year old football games), games that would require expensive licensing that probably wouldn't be worth it (They're clearly not going to pay to relicense dozens of automobile designs for a budget digital rerelease of Sega GT for example), games Sega just published and doesn't own (Like Metropolis Street Racer), and the poorly done compilation Sega Smash Pack, I'm pretty sure this list is complete of 1st party Sega releases outside of prototypes (Like Propeller Arena). I've included titles that use licensed music, I presume it would just be replaced like Crazy Taxi is having done. 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker Alien Front Online Confidential Mission Crazy Taxi Crazy Taxi 2 Daytona USA (Would require a different name) Dynamite Cop Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future Floigan Brothers Jet Grind Radio Ooga Booga Outtrigger Phantasy Star Online Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2 Seaman (I think mics are common enough to not hinder this one) Shenmue Shenmue II Sonic Adventure Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic Shuffle Space Channel 5 Space Channel 5 Part 2 Time Stalkers (Unsure, is this Sega owned?) Toy Commander (Unsure, is this Sega owned?) Virtua Fighter 3tb Zombie Revenge And I think they could make a go at it with Ferrari Challenge F355 and Sega Rally 2. But they all require licensing that can't easily be circumvented, which leaves both of these in doubt. I think it's safe to say that quite a few of these aren't going to be candidates for rerelease (Floigan Brothers for example). Where are these 18-24 games going to be coming from? Sega's going to license 3rd party Dreamcast releases to work on to release for themselves? I can't imagine that these games are going to be cheap enough to port where there would be sufficient profit to split two ways (Remember, these are probably going to just be sold for $15). And it seems likely that paying to license another company's game would put too much risk on to Sega to even consider it, so don't expect Sega to be approaching 3rd parties to license their past titles. I see about 10 1st party Dreamcast titles here that Sega has available and are popular enough where I'd expect Sega to port them if the program is successful. Metal Ghost
Hey, I know this is an old thread, but I'm curious about the list of 1st party DC games: wasn't Skies of Acadia a 1st party game? I can't for the life of me remember, but I thought it was. I know it was re-released for the Game Cube, but I really enjoyed that on DC and would love to be able to download it via XBLA. Atariboy
I missed that one, thanks. For some reason I always thought that was a Namco game. The name reminds me somewhat of the Tales games from Namco, for example. Also, Sega Bass Fishing surprises me somewhat to see coming to disc, XBLA, and PSN. I figured since the special fishing controller was so important to the game and since it models the sport of fishing, that it probably wouldn't be considered. Still, I don't see 24 games that would be viable to be rereleased. And this console generation at the pace these are being released isn't going to last long enough to see 24 of them, anyways. Gabriel
In terms of Dreamcast games, wake me when they do Fighting Vipers 2. Otherwise, I don't care. As for Saturn games, the mention of Panzer Dragoon Saga is interesting. From what I've read, Sega has maintained for the past several years that the source code for the game is missing and that is their excuse for not re-releasing it under the Sega Ages banner. Personally, I've played PDS and didn't think it was all that good, and it ages horribly. If they're going to do Saturn games, lets see Panzer Dragoon Zwei. Metal Ghost
If they're going to do Saturn games, lets see Panzer Dragoon Zwei. A (relatively) easy way to play PD Zwei on 360 is to find a copy of PD Orta. You can play it either immediately or as an unlockable from the main menu. jbanes
I was about to complain that what's REALLY needed is Radiant Silvergun. (I know, I know. Not actually published by SEGA.) Then I found this:

Taskmaster99
A Saturn download i would pay for would be Dungeons and Dragons Collection. I have it for the Saturn already.....but i dont read Japanese so I'm not getting the whole story. Translate it in english and put it out there. I'll buy. Austin
Capcom could just port the arcade version of that over (or bring it over via emulation), although the thing that would probably be stopping them is licensing.

Atariboy
Too bad this Dreamcast program ended almost as quickly as it started. I just knew 18-24 titles sounded unrealistic. All we ended up with in the end was Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Jet Grind Radio, Sega Bass Fishing, Crazy Taxi, and Space Channel 5 Part 2. I wonder what we missed out on if their plans were actually as ambitious as what the media was reporting.
Austin
It would have been cool if they ported Outtrigger. Online play with that one would have been fun.
