Magnavox O2

Thanks. I may already have a wall-wart that will do the job. I expected more than a 400mA draw to be honest. Polarity does not matter? That's a first.

The "11.5VAC" indicates that it's AC, not DC. DC is where the polarity matters.

When you have a device that accepts AC, the rectifiers and regulators to convert to DC of the proper voltage are internal to the device.

(You can even get away with feeding DC to such a device in many cases. The polarity of the input voltage still doesn't matter as the rectifier circuitry will pass it through in the correct polarity).

No polarity issues on AC power.

edit: somebody beat me to it.

Well there you go! I know so little about this unit that I ASSUMED it was DC (like almost everything else these days). I really wanted a simple unit to get back into hardware, it's been over 15 years since I dabbled in that area, so I thought this would be a perfect platform to hack on.

** EDIT ** << THIS LOOKS LIKE IT >> If so, say so and I'll go ahead and order it. Thanks!

Oh, so now I learned one more thing, that Magnavox O2 takes low voltage AC but Philips G7000 either takes low voltage DC or wall wart AC.

Anyway Omega, that power supply you found on eBay is a DC one which is easily identified by the polarity symbols ---(o---.

From what I know, both NES and SNES originally came with AC just like the O2, but as mentioned all can be fed with DC, possibly at the risk of the rectifier running hotter than normal over prolonged periods of time as the wave never shifts like it would do with AC.

It looks like the search is still on for the power supply, I thought I might have a suitable one packed away, but Nooooooo.

Anyway, I have one more question... is there a repository of PDF files for the manuals on these games? I just purchased two and would like to print up a copy of each manual.

Vectrex Roli did a cool video which "sort of" features the Videopac G7200...

For another SHORT 33 second video of one in action, go << HERE >>

Roli has a new video out at the moment with a review of the G7400(what would have been the O3), he also gives a quick overview of the multicart and the Berzerl clone.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJQVSkGr3eA
