OFFICIAL AtariAge SECRET SANTA 2010

Recommended Posts

Hmm... 82 was the Colecovison Christmas for us, which rocked. 83 and 84, don't recall specifics. But business picked up again in 85 with the arrival of the NES and ROB! :) (It's been debated if it was 85 or 86, but I'm almost certain it was 85!)

My recipient should have gotten their prezzie yesterday. :) Picked it, because I know you had just started building your 5200 collection and because it was an original homebrew, but not neccessarily the most frequented title, or neccesarily considered a "go to" which is a bit of a shame, because it's a fun one, on it's own terms.

I hate that I had to wimp out and go with stuff I had around for my SS. He had a specific want and I procured it. The bad thing is that it came broken. I spent hours trying to fix it but it was dead. My wife's was also a customer of mine ;) and her gifts piggy-backed in the box I was sending him anyway. It will be impossible for that recipient not to know WHO it came from as a result :D

I got my gift today! I had to open it, and I am glad I did.

Thank you so much! I definitely needed that screwdriver set, I already used it at work today. Now Ed doesn't have to bother with me borrowing his.. until I decide to take the screwdriver home.. :D

I LOVE the butterfly in a jar. Such a neat idea, I had no idea that they had made something like that. Really cool thing, I love it.

I'm at work so I will wait until I go home to play with the Thinking Putty.

Thanks again, everything is really awesome! The receptionist at work loves the butterfly :D

EDIT: The boss does too. I think its gonna stay at work for a bit so people can play with it. :D

The GF has the week off work (I am stuck at work Monday and Tuesday). She met me for lunch and told me I had a package arrive from Santa. Have a few more hours before I'll get to open it.

I got my secret package today in the mail...not only did it come with just about everything a boy could dream of, I got a mint looking edition copy of Diddy Kong Racing for the N64...I love that game! Thank you secret Misses Clause! I love empty boxes...and the pool floatY...genius!

(Im glad it was an all crappy looking diddy kong racing like those poorly drawn cartman boys from South park the movie!)

Major thanks to whoever my Secret Santa was! I got a 2 pound bag of spicy beef sticks, a big bag of M&Ms, 2 Karaoke DVDs (which will keep the niece & nephew busy when they are over this week), a cool Coleco quiz game, and by far the coolest item in my 2600 collection - a Master Module (modem to cart). What a wonderfully thoughtful gift!

P.S.

I've already opened the beef sticks, and I, my girlfriend, and my little dog all agree, they are awesome

I received my package last week. Sorry for not posting sooner, but I have been studying for the GRE (which I took this morning).

My Secret Santa really knocked it out of the park! Here's what I got:

NES River City Ransom (been looking for this game FOREVER)

NES Super C (been looking for this game almost as long as for RCR)

NES Snake Rattle & Roll (didn't have this one, so it will be great to review for CGQ)

GEN Cool Spot (ditto, will review for CGQ)

N64 Excitebike 64 (another one from my want-list)

River Raid, I think for the Colecovision. I don't have a Coleco, so not sure. Now if I get one, I have a game to play, though, and River Raid is one of my faves on the VCS.

CANDY See's butterscotch lollipops, various butterscotch hard candies, some caramel, and a fat chunk of maple candy. Butterscotch and maple candy are my favorites.

Some Close Encounters of the Third Kind trading cards, which I assume are from back in the day.

Everything was individually wrapped, which is also awesome. Great selection of games, and awesome candy. I haven't had a chance to play any of the games on account of my studying for that damned test, but am looking forward to doing so either tomorrow or when I get back from Christmas with the family.

Thanks a million, Mr. Whoever-You-Are!

Chris

My Secret Santa gift arrived today, and it was good. This is a serious dose of awesome right here.

1. Atari gum in Joystick tin

2. Pac-Man candy - in pac-man tin

3. Pac-man band-aids

4. Vintage gamepros from 1993-1995

5. A very nice Chopper Command

6. A very VERY nice CIB gatefold box Street Racer

7. a truly sweet modded prototype single player paddle controller. This is just genius. no more wrestling with an extra controller during solo play.

Thanks to Jibbajaba for this wicked cool stuff.

How does it work? I've read that the jar takes batteries. Does the butterfly have a string or is it like zero gravity thing?

Very cool, and technical marvel at the same time.

Man, I'm thrilled with what I got, but just as impressed by what others are getting! Ax-- thanks for putting this together. It's great to have this kind of Christmas Spirit fostered thru the site! :)

Its attached to a very thin metal string. You tap it and it flutters and flies around. Its really neat. :)

Story of my life, I threw away a bunch of stuff a few weeks back, including a DB9 extension cable. It was all messed up, but I could have saved the non-molded ends to make me one; great idea.

Oh! My Mom got one of those butterflies for my Cousin, so I'll see one when I go over there for Christmas Day. My Mom told me she played with the gifts before she sent them out LOL! I'm envisioning my gifts having pepperoni grease on them lol.

I hope we do this secret santa next year.. I enjoyed it a lot.

I enjoyed it a lot also, as well as my secret santa. I really hope this goes again next year :)
